Will a bad VP kill some power?

I have a bad VP44 on my truck, its been bad since I bought the truck, but has hung on for 3 years now, I rarely get the dead pedal, I just recently had a bad dead pedal issue and the timing failure code about 3 months ago, none since.

How much power am I losing with my bad pump? it seems to me that if the code says timing failure, the fuel is not injected efficiently, since the pump is computer controlled timing, my truck just doesnt seem to have the power it should with my mods, I dont have a ton, but trucks similar to mice seem to be quicker and they all have good vp's...

any advice appreciated.

a bad pump will definatly kill your power and mileage. im not sure how much but when mine died id guess it was 1/4 of it gone or more.

IIRC the dead pedal was from the APPS? That was the impression I was under. When my VP44 died, it died; no ifs, ands or buts.

does it kill the power because thr injection timing is messed up? or because it doesnt have the capibility of pushing enough fuel? cause my pump never "runs out" it will smoke like crazy, and never acts like its starving and running out of fuel.

To me it was an amazing difference. I had a dead pedal sometimes, but when I changed it out..........new truck. Power everywhere.

i had dead pedal for 11 months before i finally got a new vp...with the new vp the truck had tons of power.

i've heard where vp's are going out no codes, no dead pedal, just getting weak and not making the power they should be making
