will 51" donaldson muffler fit?
i have a 2000 auto 4x4 short box with 4" TBE on right now. i just replaced my turbo and needed a hx40 DP. now my exhaust has a rather large gap in it and i need to fix it up. instead of just putting pipe up there to fill the gap, i was thinking of going to big donaldson muffler and eliminating the mbrp muffler.
anyone know if this will fit under the truck without contacting any other metal?

i have searched and came up with a lot of 3rd gen threads, but couldn't find anything on 2nd gens . . .

the whole point of even thinking about a donaldson is to quiet it down. straight pipe is out of the question - just not my cup of tea for a DD truck.

I have had the 51" Donaldson muffler installed for several years now. There is plenty of room. I like the way it quieted down the truck compared to the Magnaflow muffler.
You can see the Donaldson hanging slightly below the frame, but so does the fuel tank.

did you retain the baffles, or knock them out?

I have a short box with stacks and I made mine fit. Not alot of extra room but I did get it in there. I would take some pics for you but some young punks broke into my truck and stole my camera.

I left the baffle in.
I hope this helps.

i have taken a tape to the truck and it looks like i'll hae to do the same - mount the muffler as far rearward as i can, like you said, the transfer case looks like it may get in the way. if it does get in the way, i could always heat up and bend the outter shell of the muffler to clear the case.
thanx for the help/info . . .

Why not see if Donaldson or Nelson make a similar muffler that is shorter than the 51". To me that would be better than modifying the airflow through the muffler and giving the transfer case the extra heat.
