Question Why would a truck stall after a long hard pull?

What causes a truck to stall after a long hard pull (sledpulling) or any other scenario where you floor it for a short period then get out of the throttle...

Yes I do know that the clutch must be pushed in at the end of the track or it will stall

Looking for an explanation of why it could or does happen?

Lot of times you air lock the injection lines when you pull out of it right away after WOT. Have to crack a few to get it started back up.

How about specifically on a 24 valve. This happened to me on one occasion. It did start back up, but it took some cranking. How do you airlock the lines if they remain full of fuel?

I wonder if bigger lines and tubes cause this to happen more or less?

My truck has done this more than once... and after a hard WOT run sometimes it will also "Lope" for a few minutes. A tap of the throttle usually clears it up though!

From what I've read it seems to happen with injectors and an Edge Comp or Juice. The best explantion I've read is that the pump is putting out alot of fuel then it puts out none when you let off causing air to get in the lines.

99% of the time it only happens with edge comp boxes, i've had it happen to me just one time with the TST/smarty stack, but it was a weekly occurence with the drag comp i had

it may be the pump running out of fuel. and not being able to keep up with the demand.

I don't think it is running out of fuel, if that was the case, it would occur during a huge fuel demand still under load full throttle sort of deal. This is only after you get out of the throttle that the problem occurs...

Happened a number of times on the twin turbo 2nd Gen with FASS... don't lift so hard and it shouldn't be an issue.

Otherwise, make sure you keep the 3/4" wrench handy!

I'm not much of a metric guy, I prefer to use a 3/4" wrench.

I didn't lift hard on the one time it happened, it was weird, lifted easy, watched the rpms just slowly drop from top to bottom (over maybe 2 to 3 secs?) It was also the first time I ever heard my twins huff after a pull like you hear most big singles do when they get under them. First thought was that something broke since it died nope it fired up after a few attempts and was able to drive it home. After I picked up my winnings of course
