why i would never buy from a dealership

so me and my friend went looking at trucks the other day. we went to a dealership and told the salesmen what he wanted and that he was going to be pulling a 5000 lbs rock crawler. i already new what he needed but the sales men dicided that a srt-10 would tow just as good as a ctd 3500 i laughed and we then left the dealership. anyone else have some good salesmen stories?

I went to the dealership, took this ford diesel for a drive when i was a ford guy and well, we needed fuel to get back to the dealership.
Pull up to the pumps,
He gets out,
Tells me he will take care of it all,
Gets back in the truck, i start the truck
Pull out............IT STALLS

LOLOL THE GOOFY POLYESTER PANTED UP KNOW IT ALL SALESMAN FILLED THE DIESEL UP WITH GASOLINE.............NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY LIFE.

So i get back to the dealer.......in a taxi, left him with the truck at the station

Get in my truck and leave.

HE CALLS ME THE NEXT DAY ASKING IF I AM STILL INTERESTED IN THE TRUCK..................LOLOL

I took my brother to the dodge dealership becouse he wanted to see about a truck that one of my dads friends traded in, I think it was a 99 chevy gasser, they had givin the guy like 14 for it and had the price at 19 or something so my brother didnt look much further. Any ways well were there the extremly pushy salesman trys selling me on a new dodge pickup well im on the way back to my truck. What he says to try and sell me on it is Come on ITS A WAY NICER TRUCK THEN YOURS. Well I really like my truck and take that as an insult. They also had a 72 challenger with a 360 auto I think for $80,000 what a rip off. I mean if it was a 70 with a hemi and a four speed it woulda been cool. Any ways he kinda ticked me off saying it was way nicer then my truck and Ive never been back there.

When I was 18, I was just browsing (mainly for fun) a car fair. I told the salesman I was more into sporty cars like a Toyota Celica or something. After I told him my price range (which was actually reasonable) he took me to a car "that I would like." I guess he didn't have much on the lot but it was a red Saturn hatchback; like a wagon. Yes, a wagon! He tried telling me I could throw all my gear in there so me and my friends could go on trips and have a lot of fun. I couldn't help but chuckle.

Another time later on... I went to the Mitsubishi dealer and asked to test drive the Eclipse V6. Believe it or not, even though they had v6's on the lot, the sales guy kept insisting that I should go with the 4-cylinder because it got better gas mileage and that I couldn't feel the difference. I was like ***? I actually had to go to the manager to test drive a v6. As I pulled off the lot I saw the manager talking to the salesman.

Had a salesman at a Dodge dealer try to sell me a 24v when I told him I was intersted in 12v only, he told me that a 24v will make a lot more power than stock easy, and you can't get much more power out of the 12v, unless it is the 03+ 12v...

I had a dealer tell me that the VP7100 (that’s right he said VP) was less reliable than a Vp44….. I couldn’t stop laughing I got in my truck and left.

I had another tell they never put a 12 valve in a 98 QC. I read him the vin (this was over the phone) he looked it up and apologized he then tried to sell me an 07 I just hung up.

When I was looking for my truck I went to the only Dodge dealer in town and asked what they had for used Diesels. He asked me "Why do you need a diesel?" I told him he was right, I really didnt need one, and then left. Sometimes I wonder where they come from.

My father was toying with the idea of trading his Dmax on a new (07) Ram. When discussing things at the dealer the salesman offered that the Ram does not have issues with glow plugs like the Dmax does. My father chuckled a bit and said that he would be that was a true statement. Technically speaking the salesman was correct, except he continued to explain that the glow plugs in the Ram are superior and he had yet to hear of them needing replacing, even on really high mileage trucks.

I see nothing wrong with buying a rig from a dealership. I already know what I'm looking for when I go in, but I don't like salesmen and tell them to buzz off until I'm actually ready to start taking money.

Well, here's a little behind the scenes look at the "dealer" and why I have no problem buying used now. When I was in college I took a summer off(back in 1994) from landscaping and went to work at a local dealer(GM) detailing the used cars. One of my jobs was to go through the NEW cars as they came off the trailer to get them ready for pre-delivery-inspections by the mechanics. Not all the time, but, more than I will mention, I would unwrap the clear seat protection to get beer bottles and trash out that was wrapped onto the seats. Cigarete packs, candy bars, pop and beer cans were all items that I would have to dig around under the seats, in the trunks, or find wrapped up to the seats and remove before customers saw. I really do hope the manufactorers have finally cracked down on the yahoos building these things. So, the dealer is only one of a long line of idiots your dealing with when you set foot on their lots. I guess it only makes sence that some of the dealers are just as rediculous as appearantly some of those building these vehicles. I usually buy used now because I've found I have less problems with good used vehicles than new ones. Time at the dealer for repairs under warranty is still time I'll never get back, especially when I'm sitting there wondering if the repairs have anything to do with the beer bottles I used to clean out of these cars. It's been my experience that a good used vehicle has cost me less in time and money. For some reason, I still buy the extra warranty, but, rarely have to use it.

I wouldn't take it personal if a salesperson doesn't know much about a vehicle. I usually just explain what I do know about something so at least he knows he's not dealing with someone who's gullible.

I am informed before I step foot on the lot. I don't expect a salesman to know everything about every vehicle on the lot......but don't bullshoot me either. If you don't know, say so. Don't try and make it up.

Most salesmen have surprisingly little knowledge of the products they sell, but i just take that as a given and let my knowledge of the vehicle suffice. It's when they hound you, or try to get you to buy a vehicle by telling you that your current vehicle sucks when i have a problem with them. I had a salesman actually come up to our car once before i'd even gotten out and try to sell my a car. Then when i told him we were just browsing and not interested in buying he hounded me as to why. I told him our car was paid for and in good shape mechanically (even though it looked horrible-'92 escort with 108k on the clock.) He looked at it and basically told me that it was a piece of junk and i needed to buy something from him right now (i don't remember his exact words but that was the basic idea.) Needless to say the wife and i got into the car and promptly left, I am not buying from anyone with those sales tactics.

went to trade my 99 f-350 diesel 4wd it had 140,000 miles and i was looking at a new 2005 f-350 priced at $55,000 sticker. had them test drive it and they offered me 7000 for mine no defects at all just tailgate. and I told him I would let it rust down before I took that and he went to the manager to see what he could do and before I left I had them to giving me 18,000 for mine and nothing off the new one so I thought I was done bargaining so I told him that my truck and 30000 would work. He couldn't do so I walked out and came back in a couple of days and the first thing the salesman says to me is did yours finally break so you came back to buy a new one and I turned and walked out. One of the best things ever to happen to me got to keep my 7.3 instead of buying a junk 6.0
