Why Banjo fittings?

Do you only need these if you are running injectors, fueling box, the works. Do these help any if all you have is the ez or is it un-neccesary?

Not necessary, but they are a nice addition to even a stock truck and can raise your top hp number.

Many people believe that the stock banjos are fairly restrictive and do not flow enough fuel from the tank to the lift pump (2) to the filter(2) and then to the VP44(1) total 7. Stock banjos have been blamed for ruining lift pumps and VP44s and lower horsepower. If you have a fuel pressure gauge you will see that the fuel pressure drops as you step on the accelerator. I don't like to see my fuel pressure drop below 10 or 12 psi. Replacing the stock banjos with a higher flow option should reduce the amount the pressure drops (unless your lift pump is on the way out or your fuel filter is dirty).

Some people have modified their stock banjos by removing them and drilling out the holes to increase the flow. Some vendors sell modified banjo bolts that are higher flow. The high flow kits you read about replace the banjos with AN fittings and new hose.

so with banjo's, the scotty2, and the stock straight pipe should I be fine with a edge comp and injectors or should I upgrade fuel systems?

www.genosgarage.com for upgraded banjo bolts. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, you'll see a difference in FP running stock bolts vs. upgraded bolts. Even if you don't, you'll flow more fuel at a higher rpm, which = greater fuel pressure. Cheap investment.

Vulcan or Scotty fuel kit is the way to go ... don't waste your time/money on the banjo bolts!

I agree with Piperca, go with Scotty's or Vulcan, banjo fittings have too many split 90 degree turns and hinder flow. If you drill'em out , you have to worry like me about them breaking off when you want to upgrade your injectors. Nothing flows as well as straight through or one generous full flow 90 degree turn.

Ditto to Piper & Clunk. Banjos are nothing more than a gimmick in my book. But what do I know? I have AN hose fitted barbs & 1/2 inch fuel line that I got from City Diesel. They are actually the same components of the old Scotty system. I am not sure what the new Scotty system uses, but they aren't supplied by City Diesel.

Dave they can be used on 12V's or 24V's. After install of upgraded banjo bolts on my 89 (2 banjos) I gained 2psi of fuel pressure. Is that not worth the <$10 for two banjos? Cheap is good in my book. You guys are rich with those high $$ systems. To each is own. I'd suggest buying new instead of drilling your own out. These bolts break really easy. If you drill your own out, then break it when reinstalling your up the creek and have no spare. If you break a new banjo, you got the old one right there as spare. They're are not flemsy, just I tend to overtighten things. They don't need much more than I think 15ftlb. It's also not a bad idea to purchase new gaskets with the banjos. Two per banjo bolt. Unless you don't have 100k miles, then you probly won't need new ones. But a spare is always nice for when you drop one and can't find it in the gravel .

I think I will go with the banjo's. $30 is a lot cheaper than $180 for the scotty system.

The Vulcan system is a lot less than Scotty's ... at least check it out ... you're throwing good money after bad if you go the banjo route! Cheaper is not always better ... please learn by my mistakes!

so what is the dif. between the vulcan pusher pump kit and the bigline kit? Does this void warranty? I have heard about pusher pumps, are they worth it and what do they do?
