Re:who's 4" exhaust

There are a pile of exhaust systems on the market, and you'll see that each has its fans and detractors. What you'll want in a good exhaust system is heavy pipe (I prefer 14 gauge, others like 16 gauge), a good hangar kit, and a decent straight through muffler (really a resonator). Some sources are Rip Rook (I don't have his company name handy), Jardine, and Bully Dog. We've been selling the Bully Dog system here, until we get our own, and I feel its one of the best on the market.

Rod

Re:who's 4" exhaust

How about the ATS 4" stainless system? Any opinions? And what's required to do a self installation?

Re:who's 4" exhaust

Rip Rooks weld in system is very nice. I had a similiar exhaust(ATS) on my ford powerstroke. Very difficult to install. This system of Rips is easy.

Truckkiller.....I was looking at the 4" system from JRE, how would you rate the system. Was there noticeable change in performance?

Re:who's 4" exhaust

If you don't care about a louder exhaust... don't waste your money on some 4" brand name crap. Muffler shop did 4" turbo back on my truck for $210.00. It's as free flowing as can be. No muffler, no nothing. Brand name exhaust is only worth the money if you don't want the noise. IMO

To open up the outlet on an HX35, you'll need a new backplate for an HX40. This would give you a 4" V-band clamp style of hook up. An HX40 downpipe would then be needed to bolt up to the backplate.

Rod

I don't recommend not having the downpipe, as the larger downpipe allows for better cooling. Most of the kits, including Bully's and Rips are available with hangar kits to allow easy bolt on installation.

Rod

Re:who's 4" exhaust

pushrod... i think mine is the hy35 (2002 auto), will it still work the same by using an hx40 backplate? does it bolt right on or is there some other mods to do? also where can i get an hx40 backplate and downpipe? i think i understand what you are saying, the hx40 has a 4" opening where the hy35 has a 3", is this correct? and i would need the backplate to make it a true 4" exhaust..... i would probably take it to my buddy's muffler shop and have him do the work, cuz i weld like crap!.. i'm thinking of going with the rip 4" exiting out back, but havent decided on getting the muffler or not.
