You guys running around on 5x5 wit some injectors in there, how much boost you hittin and how does it feel? I can hardly run a 1x5 on full throttle. From dead stop as soon as my truck hits second gear my 40lb boost gauge is pegged, and when i get in overdrive locked up it starts surging bad egts are thru the roof. If i roll into it easy all the way through i can pull to 126mph sometimes but its hot. On 5x5 I can get 38 psi in first gear 4x4, but its start surging rough by 3rd. I need more turbo bad but waitin on money.

You could be right but apparently, 2000's could have come either way.....on Fritz's Ram tech page, there is a listing that shows the HY35 starting in the 00 model year.....perhaps this is a half model year switchover thing?

I was running the Drag Comp on 5x5 with the stock turbo on my 01 but found I got better mpg with it on 2x3.
I have just upgraded the turbo to a Phat Shaft 62. (last night) So we'll see how that affects things.

I'm thinking that is the case as well......kinda like the 2001.5 came with disc brakes on the rear. Either way they both get TOASTY

Before my turbo upgrade, I had the same numbers as DD above, but I couldn't leave it on there for the smoke.

Stock turbos are not able to efficiently handle anything really about 28psi. With those engines they need air. The more air the better they run. Exhaust gas temps are a pretty big issue with these trucks. If you are going to put the power to the truck a turbo upgrade is only going to help. Your EGTs are going to come down 200-250 deg which is going to make a big difference when climbing those long grades. The turbos we have engineered with Air Werks are providing great throttle response, with lots of top end flow.

I don't have any trouble with egt control with the Comp on kill, RV275's and the stock 12cm HX35. 28 psi is a conservative peak boost # for an HX. I have egt control at 35 psi which is where my peak boost is at.....it is only when towing heavy that I have to be only somewhat mindful of the pyro and drop the Comp down if at all. The HY will not do this and can be difficult to control peak egt's when the Comp is cranked - even with an empty truck....28-30 psi is a more reasonable peak boost for the HY.....but not the HX.

The only thing I use is the boost elbow supplied with the Comp which has very little effect at all compared to just plugging the wastegate line and not using any elbow at all.
