i need tires soon and was looking through a catalog at discount tire. i looked through most of the tires they can get and none had a 285/75/16 in 10 ply e-rating. the goodyears i wanted (ats) no longer come in a 10 ply e-rating. anyone know who makes one this size?

I just purchased some Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos. They make one like you are looking for. The Revo so far is a good tire of course anything would be better than the slicks I was driving on. They are not noisy, seem to stop well, good wet and dry traction and they come with a 50k warranty not that a treadlife warranty means all that much. It is possible that I am wrong on the e rating but they have the same weight rating as the 265 e load that I bought. Check them out at www.tirerack.com

I looked at tirerack.com and the only ratings they had for 285/75's were D..... i still havn't found any 285/75's with a E rating on any tire sites so far, even bfg.

super swamper trxus mud's come in 285/75/R16 in E rating, however i cant say i recommend them. got mine early january of this year, only got a 1/4 tread left on them after only 8K (mostly highway) miles. im guessing that maybe this is due to interco's usually soft tire compounds. in fairness though, they work great in the mud

just my 2 cents

I don't know about the "E" rating but the BFG Allterain Ta's load rating ,(from their spec sheet) for a 285/75/16 Load range D is 3305# @ 65 PSI, compared to the 245/75/16 Load
range E 3042# @ 80 PSI, so the BFG tire has more load rating than our stock size and most other E rated tires out there.
You start getting to the 3300-3600# rating on tires you better check the rating of your wheels because a lot of cheap aftermarket wheels can't take the load let alone the tires. Other brands D rated tires don't necessarily meet the
spec's of the BFG's so check those spec's and be safe!

Re:who makes a 285/75/16 in an "e"rating
I just bought a set of 285/75/16 Michelins. They came with a D load rating but have a 3350 max single load @ 65 psi. More than equal to the original 265/75/16 E rated that came with truck. I agree with Johnny ram on the wheels too. Make sure they are equal or greater than tire capacity if they are aftermarket. They should be 3200+ and many aren't. I ended up getting a set of billet wheels to meet this (as well as the correct offset)
Tim

As others have pointed out I would look more at the tires actual weight rating instead of the load rating. The alpha load rating is not really to compare diffirent tires and doesn't even necessarily mean more plys these days. At one time it did but not sure at all if that still applies. One brands tires with a load e may be less than anothers with a load d even of the same brand but a different model. The actual weight rating is probably most important when judging if a tire is suited for the load instead of the load rating because an e does not mean the same weight rating for every tire.

Re:who makes a 285/75/16 in an "e"rating
Just to clear up confusion.....there are no "10 ply sidewall" Load Range E Light truck tires or Load Range D for that mater. The stamping you see that says "10 PR or 8 PR" only means the tires were tested under controlled conditions that the government set. It means the tires passed a certain rating equivelant to 10 ply or 8 ply. Most tires however are constructed with only 2 or 3 sidewall plies and usually 2 or 3 plies at the tread area along with 1 or 2 nylon (or rayon) caps and 2 or 3 steel belt "plies".

As for the load capacity stamped on the sidewall, these are MAX loads. Even though some 'D' tires may rate higher MAX, its only due to the difference in inflation pressures at MAX LOAD. Personally, I would stick with Load Range 'E' tires. For example, if you are involved in an accident and you have LOAD RANGE D tires on your truck and your door Placard says LOAD RANGE E, you may have a fight on your hands when it comes to insurance coverage, remember the Firestone/Ford problems. That argument is still ongoing.

Hope that sheds some light on things,

Tim

Here is what I have they were just released like 2 weeks ago I was waiting for them.

Yokohama Geolander H/T - S 225/75/16 Load Range "E" stamped right in the sides and they are about 2.5 " lower profile then the stock tires off my daulie. That is what I wanted a lower profile tire. My truck is truck of the month look at the pics to see the tires. The yokohama are the ones mounted on the aftermarket rims not the stock rims.
