Whats the purpose of the Fuel pressure gauge
What is the purpose of the fuel pressure gauge on a 2001 ram, is it to protect the life of the fuel pump by running too low on fuel pressure? What should the fuel pressures be on a stock 5.9 with a superchips performance module and 4" dual exhast? Also how do i get my pacbrake exhaust brake to work properly on my automatic truck,it does not feel like it is giving me much if any braking assistance? Thanks for any help.

The fuel pressure gauge is to monitor the output pressure of the lift pump. Since fuel is used to supply the injector pump and also circulates thorugh the injector pump for cooling, having an adequate supply is CRITICAL.
No less than 10psi at idle is good, but you also want to check pressure at WOT (which should never hit 0, but never below 5 is better). Really, the higher, the better.
As for the exhaust brake on the auto, you'll need a lockup switch in order to lock the torque converter when braking so that you actually feel the braking force.
