Whats the best Gear lube?
OK guys..............I have always put my money on "REDLINE" Oil products. But I am willing to stand by and see what everyone else thinks, knowing that most of you never have used Redline. But be that as it may; I want your thoughts on what you think is the best gear lube on the market today.
Now I plan to change my lube in the rearend and before I do that I think I can be persuaeded to change my mind.
So! what say yee? Robert.

Re:Whats the best Gear lube?
Kendall SHP...its cost effective...and alot of major truck and leasing fleets use it
I have seen some of my trucks come in for service at 40000 miles and the diff was almost dry after replacing the leaking seals all we did was refill the diff and sent the truck back out...I have retired 3 fleets over the years and most tractors after 5 years service had 1-1 1/2 million miles on them we used Kendall products only in the gear boxes and our total fleet size was 3000 plus tractors we never had a oil related failure other then no oil (driver error) :-X

Re:Whats the best Gear lube?
Great! so far that makes two, anymore out there that we can put into the ring? I think Product advertisement is self-serving to some extent, but I would like to base my decision on customer use and satisfaction. So far the input has been great as I haven't heard about nether of the first two oils. Robert

I have been using Valvoline synthetic in my 97 2500 with LSD, And in my 67 Camaro with a Detroit Locker, and have had good luck with it even with much abuse! ;D ;D

Re:Whats the best Gear lube?
I have used the Royal Purple synthetic Max-Gear lube in the past. It already has the friction modifier in it for limited slip differentials. I think most synthetics have the modifier, Amsoil does as well. I'm not afraid to spend the extra $$$ on sythetics that allow extended drain intervals. I see a lot of new trucks these days that have synthetic as the factory fill in differentials.

I did have RP Max-Gear in the NV4500 in lieu of the Castrol Syntorq. But it shifted very hard when cold, so switched to Amsoil series 2000, and it's shifts just fine now.

Is Redline a full synthetic? I've never used it, but have never heard anything bad about it.

Re:Whats the best Gear lube?
Well that's one I haven't thought about for gear lube. When I see Mobile 1 I always think of engine oil. Wonder why no one else has said anything about Mobile 1?

Re:Whats the best Gear lube?
I would suggest pretty much any synthetic. I use Amsoil and have not had a single problem with it. My manual says to put synthetic in the rear if doing a lot of towing. This says that Dodge recognizes the benefits of synthetic although they do not recommend and one brand.
