Question What Upgrades?

I'm going to do some upgrading and was hoping you could help me decide what to go with. I tow a landscape trailer daily and wanted a little more power and better fuel milage. I was going to change exhaust to 4 inch alum(stock now) and the injectors to something better (DTT DD1 or DD2). I've put in Pyro, Fuel pressure, and Boost guages. I was thinking FASS or another system like that too. What else do you think I should upgrade? What brands or combos are better together? I was looking to spend $1000-2000 total. Thanks for the input.

Put a triple disc TQ and valve body in the tranny so that you wont have to worry about it for a long time. hat will use most(if not all) of your money, but it will pull much better, and hold a lot of power. Actually i think you could get by with just a valve body for now though. They help the converter hold much better; so keeping you budget in mind, this is probably what i would do in no particular order except the valve body first:

Valve body(about $500)
any decent pusher pump
some injectors(285's maybe)
4 inch exhaust
Comp box

I think that would be a very driveable combo for pulling your trailer every day EGT and power wise, and with a good valve body; your tranny should hold as long as you dont pull with the box all the way up all the time. That will be real close and maybe over $2000, but you will have a good setup. Cant go too big on the injectors, or your EGT's will get hot to easy hauling your trailer. Have fun with it

there are a ton of combos you could run. Air filter and exhaust along with a valve body would be nice along with some gauges and if you want some power pick out a box that meets your needs. The EZ is great for towing and not to harsh on the tranny but if you want to have some fun once you unhook the trailer pick up a comp box. I think there are a few in the classified section

Mike, I agree with Cumminsdriver!
Do a good Valve Body and some power add ons. I have seen a DTT Valve body hold up to 350+ hp with no problems.
For power I would consider the new "Smarty" ECM programer (latest...and by far the best light power upgrade), and some Mach 1.6 injectors.
Smarty here - http://www.madselectronics.com/index.html
Injectors here - http://www.f1diesel.com/

Those three items should be under $2,000 and be a "whole new truck" !

With this HP, you won't need the 4" exhaust...unless you jusy want the sound. I would save the money from the FASS and just get Scottys Smart Fuel System, unless you plan on bigger hp later. (Still <$2,000 total)
