well, my stock stereo is shot. the volume **** is broken, it doesnt play cd's, the ***** are screwed up as well.
so i was thinking about getting a new in-dash stereo, two 12's (one under each seat)and a good sized amp.

so what sound sytems do guys have? what should i go with or what is recommended? i want something fairly cheap yet i want a good kick out of it

Jensen 9312HD in dash dvd (less than 350) with onscreen ipod or iphone control. I replaced the door speakers a while back, but not sure with what, nor did that make much difference. I've got 2 15" RF HE2 subs under the back seat in a box by me powered by a 1200 watt amp. It'll shake things that aren't already shaking b/c of the engine!!!!

My brother just put the exact same deck in his 05...

Makes the road trips a lot easier

that sounds like a nice setup. ill probably end up with just an in-dash stereo, i dont think that i need a dvd player in my truck lol i just want something simple. ill definitly have subs though. so a 1200 watt amp should work for some 12's? sorry im trying to learn about new things. oh yeah i will more than likely end up doing all the work myself

I've only ever bought Pioneer Cd players, easy to use, a lot of adjustments, and never had any problems. I've had the same subs since I was in H.S. (6yrs now). Volfenhag's, came across em online, they were cheap and said they handle 1000w each. I got a 1200w amp hooked to em and they hit hard still to this day, and very clear. I blew up both of my Sony door speakers with a 500w amp.

JVC HD radio. Can't remember the model but it has an I pod connection that allows me to control it through the radio.
I bought Boston Acoustics but I don't like them as well as the factory Infinity speakers. The factories had an amp of some sorts built into each speaker but one up front and one in the rear were blown.

I'm using an Alpine in dash cd player/radio. I've had it so long now I can't even remember the model number. I bought it new back in 97. It's been in two trucks now and keeps working. Prior to it, I had used Kenwood, JVC, Blaupunkt, and Pioneer. They were all very good, but, after owning this Alpine, it's all I'll put in my vehicles now. Reguardless of what you get, something you may want to concider is getting one with a remote. When I bought my Alpine it came with a remote. At the time I thought I'd never use it. I was wrong...I use it every day. It's so nice to not have to reach over to the radio when driving. It's sounds lazy to say that, but, face it, if you own a second gen Ram, then you probably noticed the radio is just barely out of a comfortable reach while driving. I never have to take my eyes off the road. I just press the remote.

Funny....mine has a remote and I never use it. But I probably should. It stays in the little cubby above the rear view.
I guess I need to find a place for it around the steering column.

You can't go wrong w/Polk Audio components.

I have a Kenwood flip out DVD with Navigation, I bought on ebay around christmas time. both for like 600 retails for more than twice that, has sirius capabilities, also have infinity 6 inch and tweets in Q logic kickpanels. with 2 30 band eqts

also have 2 10 kicker subs in a mTX moulded box under the rear seat
powered by a 2200 watt Audiobahn, amp and a 300 watt older hifonics amp. sounds great

I just took out a monster 4 12 ported sub box which had 12 inch solobarics, in it aweful loud but really impractical

I've been considering getting a head unit with a USB port...Is it worth it? You just put music on a flash drive, plug it in and it plays? or is there more to it than that?

man all of you guys have nice systems lol i cant wait to get mine

ok, when my dad got his kenwood in the 95 2500 back in 98, he bought the stereo, 6x9's, 2 12's, 4 tweeters, two amps, and an equalizer. however, he was told that the stock stereo had a strong enough built amp(?) and all he really needed was the equalizer and the seperate amp for subs, is this so?
