what size turbo????

If you want big power get a Silver 62. If you want fast spool and just enough air for your current smoky injector size, get a sps 62. If you want room to grow, and can afford a little lag, get at sps 64/14 or for a little quicker spool, get a 71 series 64/14. If you are going to put in massive injectors, fire ringed head, and so forth, get an Aurora 5K. If you got deep pockets, put in a set of twins. If you are really tight, put in a bottled turbo... 40 shot nitrous.
No offense man-- I guess I just need to get up a little earlier to hang with you younger guys!
My personal rule of thumb is to find to really find the perfect turbo, then go the tinies bit smaller.
For example, if you think you have the makings for a 64/14, go with a 62/14. Or if you think a 62/14 is perfect, go with a 62/12.
IMO, a 62/12 is the smallest aftermarket turbo that should be considered. Anything less is not a big enough improvement over stock to warrant the hassle.
Spoolup matters a lot, and you REALLY have to factor in your unique driving circumstances. Tranny and altitude play hugely. Auto trannies need more spoolup, as does higher altitude.
I'll always favor spool vs cool in that debate, because I can't drive around the heat easier than I can drive around lag.

Less posts means just that, nothing more. Either someone hasn't been a member as long, doesn't post everytime they're on, or they have spent more time in the seat trying new products more than on this forum. Just my .02 on that.
Anyway, you will be happy with any 62 mm turbo you choose. I know where you can get a new one with a 1 year warranty for cheap. Just let me know. PM's are better than posts to get in touch with me.

If that is the case....I must look like a rookie with only 14 posts & just joined a week ago. I have 1500 posts on TDR. I was just trying to help....being that noone did the same for me & I went way oversized & changed turbos more than I changed my socks before finding the perfect match for towing, dragging, driveability.

I talked to Brady at II & he said that he did a comparison of the PS 64 to the SPS 62/80 & not only did the SPS 62 outspool the 64, but also outflowed it.

The 64 turbo is not fun to drive on the street.....very slow spoolup with small sticks....especially towing. I would get a Super Stock 62 from HT or a SPS 62 from II, before any other turbo. They are so much more fun to drive. If you don't plan on bigger sticks in the future....a HTB2 62/14 is a great turbo for you. Dragon Flow injectors are made by II....they are special order custom injectors. They are available in 10 hole 200hp, 11 hole 250hp or a 4 flow 7 hole injector which I am running now 150hp. The 10 hole Dragon flows were nice, but just too smokey pulling my trailer.

I'm running the 11 hole dragon flows on my truck and they are very nice. Smooth, fairly cool power, and considering the size of them, not to smokey. Definately need a big turbo or twins to run them at their peak but they dropped my 1/4 mile times by 1.5 sec over my bd 155's with my little PS62/12.

i am also turbo shooping right now, and have absolutly no idea what i need or should get. i am thinking about a sps 62/14 or a 64/12, but im not sure which one yet. everyone ive talked to said that twins would be a better way to go, but with that im even more clueless. what would yall recomend ? im looking at mabye high 600's as my hp goal.

i agree 100%. i had the SPS 64/14 and a bearing went out on me on the dyno last weekend at tulare. Bret was there from II and helped me out in a tight spot. gave me a SPS 62/14 with the 71mm exhaust wheel on it and it out performs my 64 by 100000000000% percent. i am makin more boost with this turbo and way cooler egts. of course, smaller turbo= more psi but it keeps the egts lower as well. i am having my 64 upgraded to a SPS 66 with the 71mm wheel as well. should work fairly well for big hp but not sure how its going to do on the street. as of right now, i dont think there is a better turbo on the market for everyday driving, towing, and mild power(500 ish ) than a 62/14. just my .2

if i upgrade my injectors from 370's (to what i dont know) and get some head work done (ported and polished), get a new marine gasket for that and some o rings, new better made 6" duals that split at the downpipe, and a bigger turbo (havent decided on that yet either), what hp/trq do you think i will be looking at? some suggestions would be appreciated.

the new stainless steel 62 from high tech turbo like inline said it makes a big difference when you stay smaller. i would go larger than a 12 for the exhaust side. and the 71 is alot nicer than the other. for me i changed from a 64/14 in my twins and it helped a little bit but when i went to the new htt stainless that made a major diffenerce. and i dont think im going to change what i have now.
