Smile What a ride....

I came home with my new 5er this weekend. Anyone who was out in the Vegas area doesn't need me to tell them how WINDY it was.

I drove her home in my stock 95 and pulled the Spring Mountain grade on HWY160 (into the wind!) at 45 MPH, turning a constant 2300 RPM.

1320 was right...It pulled it, but it didn't pull it fast!!

Changes to be made this week:

BD #10 fuel plate
straight pipe exhaust
AFE Air Intake
BD Deep Tranny Pan
Autometer Boost, Pyro, and Tranny Temp gauges
A pillar mounting.

Could someone tell me how to post a pic (I'll wanna show off my rig!!)?

Thankz!

RamBob

The picture has to be hosted first.
You can either use your photo gallery available to you here, or host them elsewhere.

Once you get the photos hosted, use the url of the photo and place it inside of the [I M G] tags like the following:

[I M G]www.***.jpg[/I M G] --> Just remove the spaces in between the IMG's.

if you are putting a #10 in, you should seriously consider upgrading the transmission with a valve body & torque converter.

I would suggest a gov. spring kit also to compliment the #10 plate you will be more than satisfied with the extra rpm range. Goodluck,,Rick

I think the 10 plate is too much......

a 4000gsk and a plate that wont shoot the egts through the roof.

Well guess what??? I dropped off the truck @ 6:30pm AND looked over the parts that were ordered for my "upgrade".

The BD plate that got ordered is a #8 (not a #10 - and it sure looked bigger in the pictures!!).
The air intake system is the AFE Magnum Air #1
The Tranny Pan is a BD and is 4" deep.
The gauges are as I expected and look to have good visibility. Can't wait to see them installed on the pillar.

Now I'm off to the "online store" to see if I can find a 4000 gsk. Thanks Jon!

Just get a 3k GSK. It will do plenty well enough, as an automatic wont let the rpm's pull past 3k anyway unless you're in 3rd with the converter locked; or holding a gear. You will definatley love the GSK though! Its better than a fuel plate for an automatic for driveability. The fuel plate gives you power, and the GSk lets you use that power all through the RPM range. You will probably need a torque converter and valve body upgrade if you will be pulling much. Or youll just have to baby it enough to keep from slipping it with a load.

Got the truck back with all modifications...

In the low end, I can't tell much of a difference (GSK?), but when she shifts into overdrive (@ 2000 RPM) the tach drops to around 1750 and I have most the pedal left @ around 70 MPH.

At this point, when I stomp on it, is where I see the difference:
Boost jumps up to 32 psi
EGT runs up 1000
Tach runs up to 2300 (and then the defueling starts)
MPH runs up to 95 (like RIGHT NOW)

Pulling the grade this morning on the way into Las Vegas, I set the CC @ 80mph and let her drive herself (boost settled in around 15 and EGT stayed at 800).

I use to complain about how it did this before the mods, but if I had to back off for any reason, I'd never get the speed back.

Not true any more!!! Now I get back whatever I want to take

Gauges took a little getting used to. I always thought the A pillar on these trucks was a little "obtrusive to the field of vision". Throwing a set of gauges up there made that a true statement!

Thanks for all your advice...Now I'm having too much fun!!

The GSK will keep you happy till overdrive once you get it in. My truck was the same way till the GSK.
