Question making 0 plate what if?

I have a stage 4 bully dog plate now but am cutting my stock plate flat for a zero plate. My question is, what if I grind it smaller than the narrowest part. Will this give me more fuel?

I mean when I grind the contours off what if I go past the contour aways. I guess if I knew how the gov. lever and fuel plate work I could understand more.

i would assume that a zero full forward would be about the max on the rack travel of the gov arm all are diffrent however. some trucks make more power with the plate slightly back from full forward. also i've seen someone cut a zero plate then grind a ( shape into the zero it worked, but I think it has a lot to do with how your gov arm is set. Also I read on TDR aboud a way to add spacers to get more rack travel.

i don't see how grinding past the narrowest point would do any good,it is still a straight plate or "0",the biggest thing is where ever you put your plate make sure you adjust the gov. arm..here is a link on how to adjust.

Can anyone tell me how the fuel plate and gov lever work? Does the lever slide up the plate during acceleration or down or what? Where does the defueling start?

goes up the plate at full throttle...at partial throttle u may not even be touching it and it only travels about 1/2 inch up the plate too .. not the whole thing....

my question is what are ur mods b/c ur running 13s in 1/4's thats pretty darn fast

The only time the governor lever hits the plate is when you are almost at WOT.

So by cutting off the profile it just allows the lever to move further foward to give more fuel, right? I had my truck timed by a shop that I believe are full of . Can I and should I adj my timing to 16*. is that advanved or retarted.

it travels up the plate,so if you have a #10 plate for example, the curve going towards the rear in the top of the profile defuels or cuts back on fuel, thats why running a plate ground straight cotinues to fuel hard and make smoke at heavy throtle, your egt's can go way up also with a straight plate at heavy throttle.
