What happens when the wastegate opens?

Is it a dramatic cutoff like if you got out of the pedal all at once or is it progressive? I'm trying to figure what's happening when the Juice is on Hot and the Smarty is on 8 and all of the sudden she falls on her face. I have the BD at factory wastegate (45) and the Juice fuel cutoff at 45 psi of boost. Thanks!

It is very smooth on my truck. One cannot even know when it happens.

Hmm, is this during normal day driving, or hauling on it? Also, what is your boost reading? You say you have the factory wastegate from BD (don't be fooled, some make it out of the factory lower or higher than they say). You could be actually pushing 45 or more psi, thus your Juice is cutting off fuel. JMO.

Mine did the same thing with the Smarty. The truck would nose over like a gasser out of fuel at he track.

It only happens under full throttle and only on level 6 (hot), boost looks to be around 45. I have not touched the wastegate and I hear ya about them coming from the factory with different settings. Would the Juice cutting the fuel be that abrupt? Wouldn't the Smarty still be fueling hard? RPM's are around 2100 when it does it.

Adjust the Edge to either raise the boost fuel cutoff, or eliminate it entirely. Thats likely what the issue is.

That could be the case if the WG snapped full open, as most people believe, but it doesn't - it opens just wide enuff to limit Boost to the desired level - any wider and the turbine would de-spool, losing all Boost, which would then need to re-spool to restore Boost - talk aboutcher roller-coaster ride..................

Really sounds fuel related, as mentioned - defueling will result in reduced power nose-dive symptoms

Does it seem to de-fuel above 2700 rpms? I know that edge comp box does that and you have to get a drag box to fuel hard to rev limiter. How smokey are you? Whats your egt's doing at that point. The wastegate just unloads the compressor by bypassing exhaust flow by the turbine disk. At that point it will dump a regulate exhaust flows into the exhaust.

Is your wastegate set to start to open at 45psi or is all open at 45psi. Which turbo you running?
