What Fuel PSI Guage Ya Using?

I have an autometer z series 0-15 psi fuel gauge mounted in a steering column pod. It is a mechanical guage, and I have a fuel line running straight from in between the lift pump and VP. My guage has broke again. This will now make my 3rd guage I've replaced in a year. They work fine for about 2-3 months then they just start bouncing around and get extremely noisy. I upgraded my lift pump to a holley black before the guage died, and I could easily peg out this guage. So I am looking for a mechanical 0-30psi (maybe?) guage out there that won't break in 3 months. Autometer makes one and it's like $300!!! Anyone got any suggestions on this? Is diesel just hard on the insides of the pressure guages?
Thanks for any help
Tommy

the gauge isn't designed to have diesel fuel inside of it... consider an isolator on your next setup and you probably won't have that problem.

I use an autometer industrial 0-35psi gauge ($5-10)... I use a needle valve so I dont have the jump and can turn it off in a hurry if I need to... been running it for well over 40k now

Used to have an isolator, and it worked even worse than it does now. Did nothing but jump around all over the place. I hated it even worse than what I have to deal with now.
Later,

This has been talked about a LOT on this site - you need a needle valve or pressure snubber to dampen the pulses from the VP-44:

Needle Valve - http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...h-8-NPT/Detail

Snubber (I know there is no pic but this is what you want) - http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...Snubber/Detail

I have had zero trouble with my Isspro mechanical guage.

What he said!. My Isspro mech. did this to until I put the snubber on w/ avalve to shut it off to the cab if need be and I went back to my isolator and everything is working groovy now for the last 5000mi.

So the valve is needed if I want to be able to shut off the fuel flow to the guage, like in case my line leaks or something correct? The snubber is what I need to actually stop the guage from destroying itself right? Thanks for the help guys!!!
Thanks,
Tommy

Generally, guys use either...but the snubber will do a better job. You could use a snubber and a ball valve for quick shut off in case the line leaks.

My autometer 0-15 worked great until I was running 50 psi FP. Kinda of got perma pegged. I'm running a 0-100 now and its holding up fine.

My Stewart Warner 30 psi gauge and needle valve have been on for about 10000 miles now with no problems.
