Question what fuel psi guage to use

I was just curious what range is the best to use. I was looking at autometer.com and all they show is 0-15 psi and 0-100 psi. Is the 0-15 enough? Is the 0-100 easy to read when you get down below 10 psi?

I wouldn't use a 0-100 psi gauge, it won't be accurate in the range you are looking for. O-30 psi would be prefferable I'd say.

I have the 0-30psi Autometer. It's a new gauge, they haven't updated there website yet. Call Autometer direct and they can give you the # depending on what series your loking for. I have the Z-series. I don't have the # on me. I have it home, let me know if you want it and I can get it too you. Tye

P.S. I got my Basset Hound in Paragonah, Ut. I love the city sign, "No Shooting in town limits."

I assume this means the guage is now approved for diesel use? I remember Autometer having problems with their gauges and diesel.

Anyway, I run Dakota digital with the sending unit remote mounted. 1.5 years and counting with zero problems. I personally prefer electronic over manual.

Re: Re: what fuel psi guage to use

I was hoping that there would be one in this range, that is great to know. Which brands would you guys recomend? I was just asking about Auto Meter because that is what brand I already have, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for all the info.

0-30. That gives you room for improvements. I just got a westac 0-30 and started to get a 0-15 when I ordered it. Glad I didn't, cause after I installed a new lift pump my fuel pressure at idle is approx 16lb.

The guy @ Autometer told me that the 0-30 was designed for Diesels because of the amount of requests. The gauge is electric. I had to buy a banjo bolt and tapped into the Vp44.

i have a 0-30 isspro. its a very nice looking gauge but i have it mounted under the ashtray and its very hard to read with the needle being the same color as the numbers. i think i shouldve stuck with all phantoms, very visable but dont know if they have 0-30

I also have a 0/30 isspro, but my gauge has a black face, white numbers, and a red pointer. I installed mine in the cubby next to the radio, and below the air bag switch. So far I'm real happy with this gauge. Also in basic gauge knowledge, it is normally correct to select a gauge that's range is double the normal pressure. That way when the pointer is at half the scale, it points strait up to 12 oclock on the dial. Also a gauge with a 270 degree scale is easier to read than a 90 degree face .

When I was doing my homework on guages I found that Autometer was the highest priced on Fuel PSI guages. I was quoted $294.00 for just the guage and another $79.00 for the sender! Ouch!

I went over to Diesel Performance Products... I order the white faced DiPricol guages. The Fuel Pressure guage is not electric sender. Also the 0 - 5 PSI is marked out in RED...

Take a look...

Hooking this up will be like hooking up a boost guage but some extra hardware is needed. I'm not using a isolator. I'm going to get a needle valve and plumb direct to the guage...
