What Filters Fit AFE's Torque Tube?
Well, I got tired of seeing the little tiny k&n filter slapped straight on the turbo, so I ordered AFE's torque tube from O'Reilly yesterday (#54-10079, $112.45 taxed & shipped). I didn't buy their stage 1 cause from what I saw it didn't come with a new intake tube, and I really needed one cause the previous owner didn't know where it went when he sold it to me... And I certainly wasn't gonna pay 300-400 odd dollars for a stage 2. Those prices are astronomical!
But anyhoo, I'm plannin on runnin a bhaf right over those ac lines for some nice cooler air, and I'm wondering if anyone has some item numbers for a filter that'll fit that torque tube?
Oh yeah, it's for my '96
Thanks yall

I really like my Amsoil Nanofiber over the AFE filter. It has better airflow and is an oilless filter.
When you get your torque tube, measure the o.d. and go on Amsoils site, and pick one that will fit. Most likely it will be a 4" tube.

Thanks, thats a good idea. Should probably be here Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll have to wait till then to measure it. Though if anyone has the o.d. specs on the non turbo side of the tube, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Now, yesterday I was talkin to a bud of mine about different air filters. He was tellin me that AFE filters are made like this
Instead of like this
And since they're made like that, they have more surface area, and flow better than bhaf. He just talkin out his wazoo, or is he preachin the truth?

OD on the cold side is just under 4 1/2. Maybe 4.5 if you include the little lip on the end. My cold side looks fine, but the hot side is about 1/2 smaller than it used to be- partial meltdown!

Uhg.... I. Hate. UPS.
Still aint in...
So I got a question for anyone who have a complete AFE stage 1 or 2 system. I know yall have that box thingamajigger, but does the filter that came in the system hook up to the box, or does the air tube stick through the box and the filter connects to that, or... Am I making any sense? Cause I'm wondering if I could maybe just find a part number for a replacement afe filter itself...?

Ahh... So even if I ordered just a replacement afe filter, it probably wouldn't hook up to the afe torque tube I ordered huh?
Hmm... Guess I'll just have to wait till it gets shipped and then go to a parts store and just try on different filters till I get a match lol...

Buy an Amsoil nanofiber one. Its well worth the wait.
Go on https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx.
You will need either the 4510 or 4560 they have the 4.5" flange.
These are well worth the money.

Got the tube today... 4.5" diameter. Just trying to find a bhaf's part number with a diameter for 4.5" now.
Looking at the EaAU4560, but would really rather not order online. Would much rather see the filter in person and know if its what I need or not lol.
