I just set mine today at .008 and .018 seems to idle a bit smoother.

Is there any performance gain at 8 and 18? Also, how tight is too tight if the recomend specs are 10 and 20? I would make mine tighter if it would gain anything, but would hate to screw up a valve, let alone 24 of them

Adam,
Don't see room for any big performance gain.... Dodge tech manual allows a wide range on setting 24v valve lash....
Intake - .006 to .015
Exhaust - .015 to .030

Book says "Engine operation within these ranges has no adverse effect on performance, emissions, fuel economy or engine noise level."

Most use .010 & .020 with no problems.

RJ,

Thanks for the info, it doesn't sound like it is worth doing the job again until it's needed.

I usually set mine above my pistons, but to each their own...
