What do I need to hook my lap top to my truck

What software, cables, and any other goodies do I need to have, to use my lap top as a scanner and possibly a programer. I know some body knows how and what, let me know too, go easy on the technical gargon as I'am not a computer genius. thanks

been watching fast and the furious too much lately?
j/k i don't know much about that but it sounds pretty specialized and you could do the same thing with guages and a six gun.
if you really want a computer in your truck i would talk to your local dealer for software and stuff. i have a feeling though that if you talk to them about your idea they might just look and you funny
another place you might try is going to a local custom shop and risking being laughed at to find the info. maybe one of the ricer guys could help you out and head you in the right direction.
i would think it's more of a hastle then it's worth but i've had worse ideas.

Im interested in this also. We make fun of the ricers with their Tuner attitude but guess what. We are doing the same thing.

Sounds interesting. I think that programs like these may be very useful for fine tuning a truck. Also, can any parameters be adjusted or changed through these programs, or are they view only?

View only. Cummins sued the pants off of everyone who's tried to do this state-side. Marco has successfully done the internal ECM adjustments and sells them through resellers stateside as Catcher or MAD ECM. Search for either for more info.

I bought the ScanGauge and it works pretty well
It was about $125 and is compatible with almost all ODBII systems.

So are you saying there are people with ECM tweaking programs out there, or out of the country?

No, they're selling already tweaked, replacement ECM's.
