What are the chances of Death Wobble????

I've never had the "death wobble", but have been considering adding some D25 springs, Bilstein 5100's and 315's on stock wheels. What are my chances of getting the wobble? Is there anything I need to check before hand? Trackbar? Are 315's allright on stock wheels, or would 285's or different wheels be better? Thanks guys.

As long as you get it aligned after the lift and MAKE SURE they set the caster to atleast 3.5 degrees you shouldn't have a problem, DW is caused by insufficient caster. You should check your track bar out as well as your tie-rods and ball joints because if they have any play in them the truck can't be aligned, and that stuff gets exspensive fast especially if you have the alignment shop replace the parts. If you do need a track bar I highly recomend one of the aftermarke options (solid steel, DTprofab, thuren, luke's link) The factory as well as the factory replacements are junk and your lucky if you get 20,000 miles out of either. As for your tire choice 315's should clear but will be a little close and may rub a little on factory wheels, 305's or 285's will clear easier but won't look as good I would say see if your tire dealer will mount one up and install it so you can see how it looks and if there is any clearance issues before you buy them so if not you can get something smaller.

Hope this helps....Josh

Stay away from the D25's...there's better options for $20-30 more.

Do a search on Death Wobble....hours of reading. You'll get a good idea of the cause and solutions for DW.

Carli (thecarlisuspension.com) or direct from Coil Spring Specialties (coilsprings.com).

I've referred a few guys from here over to CSS, I think piperca paid ~$189+shipping about a year ago. You can spec a softer coil rate if you want to. Any increase in price would be due to shipping and steel escalation, so they might be a few bucks more now. Call them and see. They work great with the Bilsteins.

Last time I checked, D25's were going for about $170/pair plus shipping. They ride like and they turn pink and sag withing a year or two. First thing I replaced when I re-did my front end was the SJ coils.

I still have some pink 4.5" coils if anybody needs a doorstop
