What can cause (really) high idle?

Any ideas on what can cause a really high idle? We got done putting a new cam in my buddy's 12V last night, along with the pump that he just got back from the shop, new injectors, and new lift pump. It's idling at 1800-2000 rpm now, and even started to slowly run away on us, so we shut it down.
So what could we have done to screw this up? Can't see anything glaringly obvious...we looked over the fuel system and double-checked the timing. Injectors are new and looked good when we put 'em in. Verified with the cam guy that it was installed properly.

Two possiblilities, 1 external fuel source feeding it or 2 something wrong with the injection pump.

I would suspect something wrong in the injection pump. Governer not set properly, rack not returning to idle.

could be the governor springs to tight, the screw on the back of the pump, "the one on the top" screwed in too far... those affect idle

Well, I know he switched from the 3k kit to the 4k kit, but I think that was done and dialed in with a good idle prior to pulling the pump off. I'll check with him tonight...

with a 4k GSK in it,,, its very sensible... just a very little "idle screw adjustment" can make that difference... turn it down. i had that same problem

or just loosen the springs a click or 2. just make sure the stud comes out of the retainer.

a high idle

I have seen my truck idle high when they get a GSK in with the wrong measurements, and then they bump the idle up ALOT to make up for the slipshod measurements used when putting back the springs..

one of two things is gonna happen, Hanging RPMS, or a super high idle... Ive put three GSK's on already and i only had trouble with my own with the high idle issue... but i loosened my springs, and then readjusted my idle and no more problems.

I set mine to about .55 thousands, and my idle is right at 750 in gear with AC on... truck idles just right and fires up on the first try every time..
