Question what brand clutch?

ok, i've been doing my research on clutches for the past 5 months. finally got my taxes back and it burning a hole in it. looked at SBC, LUK, and now SPEC i know that most of the time you get what you pay for, but i don't want to pay the SBC prices. SPEC is more in my price range but if the quality isn't there than i'm going with LUK, any help would be great.

There is only one name to remember as far as I am concerned for service and dependability.

SB baby.

I'm running about 450 HP through a 350 clutch and it is doing very well.

i know, i know that most everybody runs SB, and i'm not say'n that they aren't great clutches, but nock on wood, i've never seen a LUK clutch go out due to quality issues. not try'n to stir anything up, but try'n to see what other brand people might be running

Which Luk? The cermametallic should be a good buy, but there have been some failures reported here with the Luk gold. TiminVa is a hop, skip, and a jump away from you and he sells the SBC. http://www.trediesel.com/

I don't know what price range you're looking for but Kenny's Pulling Parts & Machine has an affordable 13" upgrade for $650 that will hold 525HP. It's a good alternative for those that don't care about being able to say I have a SB. This clutch is grabby if your backing with a load, other than that it's great.

clutch quality is inportant, but cust service is king. I emailed Peter at SB half a dozen times back and forth and he always took the time to respond very quickly, usually within 20 min!! I wanted to upgrade to a DD, thogh the FE has very low miles on it. I won't talk dollars, but just to make sure I had the clutch I wanted, and because I was a previous customer of his...a one time customer mind you....the savings he offered me off list pricing was astounding.

Find me another company that will do that....no failures of my previous clutch, just wanted to upgrade....yet he handled it with just as much care as if it had been some PO'd customer with a warranty claim. I was super impressed, so impressed that I will buy from him for all my hotrods as well as my wife's VW racers. To me, THAT decides a brand when all other variables are eliminated.

Is that the clutch, flywheel, press. plate etc everything needed to uypgrade to the 13" setup?

Price is very nice.. im looking at one and most 13" kits that handle 400ish power are $1100 from what ive saw.
