I would do what he recommends. DTT also recommends the same in theirs. NADP recommends ATF+4.

When i got my trans i called dave to ask him what fluid he reccomended. He said to run any brand i wanted, just be sure to run the same fluid in it everytime i change it. I just went with ATF +4.

I've been using Dex III plus two tubes of LubeGard for 233k trouble free.
99¢/qt for the Dex by the case at Costco.

Don't know about the Goerend tranny but I'm gonna use Supertech ATF+4 in my stocker for the next change. Think it runs $3.25/quart or so. Supposed to be the same...

Why would you use anything else except what the builder says to use? Why would you ask other people? Unless you are asking who makes a good "dexIII". That would be Valvoline.

oh, might have to switch to that then.

That's Lubeguard black right? Is it 2 tubes for the full 12 quart change?

I was at first asking weather or not to use synthetic tranny fluid over the normal stuff but then got a responce from the builder that reg. dex III was all that was needed. So when I found that out i tried to lean toward what is a good brand of reg. dex III
