what is a better chip for my 02 for MPG
#16
My last trip from tennessee to louisiana I got 19.6 with my EZ and the cruise set at 65. Around town I get about 18. I don't see much of a difference between city and hwy driving. I calculate it every fill up.

If you want to increase fuel mileage. Drive at a slower speed. 45 to 50 mph seems to produce the highest fuel economy which is pretty much the max. efficient speed the truck body offers with respect to wind resistance. Remember........ as increase the airspeed of the truck body the resistance increases exponentially. In other words; as you double the trucks speed, the wind resistance is squared. MUCH more engine effort is devoted to over coming wind resistance above 45 to 50 mph.
You will get MUCH better fuel economy at this speed but the rest of traffic will be passing you like you are in reverse. You get there a little slower but using nearly half as much fuel. All of this on the OEM computer with no chip or anything else.

i dont have a chip yet but i get 15-17 here are some options im considering, why not get the zxt quad box and hook it to the commander for on the fly power control, also its rated for 3-4 mpg gain (the web site claims), another one iv read about in diesel power mag. is guaranteed 3 mpg increase or your money back its called the big g millage miser

Smarty
I haven't hand calculated mine yet, but here's what my Smarty gives me: I always got 17mpg running down the freeway at 70mph (just under 2000 rpm), with the Smarty set on level 9 (full Kung Fu ) today on my 50+ mile trip to work the computer said I averaged 24.5 mpg. I will be happy if that is right, but it is a little hard to believe. I want to try the economy setting on the Smarty as well to see what that does, but level 9 has just been too fun so far.
