I agree with your findings, I have a 01 and I lost 2 mpg with my VanAaken, it blew my mind. I thought it was going to be the opposite.

Were you guys towing or empty? I also have wondered if a different box might get better mileage.

Is that from the computer or hand calculated? if from the computer has your truck been corrected for the 37" tires? if hand calculated then it does seem low, I usually get between 15 and 17 around town street & hiway

I got just over 18 mpg on a trip to Arkansas last march, hand calculated with my EZ. The Smarty is supposed to get about 2mpg on the economy mode.

I just got back from a trip to KY and I was averaging 16mpg towing an empty boat trailer with Van Aaken. Next fuel fill I disconnected box and went stock and I gained 2mpg to 18.2mpg traveling average at 72.5mph in cruise.
All my calculations are manual, I don't even read the computer.
On the way back I had a truck camper installed and was doing 14mpg stock and 11.9mpg with Van Aaken, then in Milwaukee I picked up a 18ft runabout boat and continued to do 14mpg without box at 67.5 mph average.

I think I will put my box on Ebay....
