mine still dont have the plug, so like i said, grin and bear it..

Next question,

How long does it usually take two average guys to install twins? and whats the routine maintainance on them supposed to be?

Just put that drain in like I did...easy as cake

Working easy, took me about 5-6 hours, with breaks, parts runs, etc! But I have a pretty well stocked shop with lots of stuff laying around for fabrication. I also had to weld up my support brackets and everything like that!

What bolts??? Manifold?? Nope, zipped them out with the 3/8" impact. Came right out even after 315K miles! Even reused the old gaskets

Im more worried about these bolts...

The ones behind the turbo (exhaust flange) to clock it, the ones at the front of the stock 35 (again to clock it), manifold bolts, motor mount bolts (for the bracket for the s400 BIG WHOPPER THAT SUCKER IS... the ones on the downpipe and finally the ones on the turbo, those suckers look pretty rusted in for me, I dont want to have any trouble, and i can see that the biggest headaches for me will be cuttin that hole in (i will use ur procedure chris) and clocking the stock turbo,

I know that an oil change, and plate and starwheel backing are in order as soon as i get the twins installed, and I know that the head will be retorqued as well

Studs and marine gasket to go on probably during christmas break...

pretty sure your turbo bolts (the ones to clock it front & back) are all stainless which makes them a breeze, & the others will do fine with a little penetrating oil, believe me I think you're gonna be pleasantly surprised at how easy they'll all come out for ya, (I know I sure was), let us know when she's wrapped up!!!!! Not an intentional bump but....

Im gonna start the final process to get some materials tomorrow, Just need to buy some oil, some rubber hose of 1 inch diameter, and im good to go

PS do u guys think that the 98 bracket from rips twins will bolt up at least to my setup? i do forsee a problem with the drain and i might have to rig it to work...

any ideas (especially 12 valvers with rips twins)

Oh yes, and where do i buy the hose? I cant find it anywhere around here...

Respectfully

Rick

Have you tried NAPA for the hose? They usually have a good selection. My seccond place to look would be some sort of hydraulic supply place, has to be a good one in Laredo...

Twins are in

All i can say is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!! The install itself was not a problem, but the testing, tuning, and actual detail work of the twins in itself was more of an issues...

The 7/8 hose was nowhere to be found, so some elbow persuasion and some grease made do with some 3/4 hose for my draintubes. The draining to the oilpan was cake, a drill bit, some oil to wash the pan, and a mig welder made for an hours work, i also had to get an oil line made, my stock one didnt work for the HX35, it was too hard to twist, so i had one made at a local hydraulic hose shop and i got it for free too cant beat that...

Anyways now for the fun part.. these things ROCK!! Initial spoolup is slightly slower than an HX35 by itself, and it takes a bit for these things to light up. But once they do, they pull like a freight train.. I had to slide my fuel plate half way back just to limit the boost to about 46 psi!..

The whistle out the pipe is nuts! But the downpipe alone for a temporary exhaust will really get to you, but the whistiling wont.. Sounds like a jet taking off when that big boy lights... I love it...

I do notice that the egts climb, then stabalize, or get a little lower under load, but once that big turbo hits, the boost skyrockets... I know for sure im definately over 450 rwhp right now.. The truck drives and feels like a half ton or a toy when the chargers work..

Cant wait to try it out on a load.. Thanks alot guys! for all the help, PM me if you have any questions...

Respectfully

Rick

Now for the fun

Special thanks to Forrest Nearing, Chris Mayer, and Mike Shannon for all their help

and everyone else for the advise on here, not to leave u guys out..

Lucky. I'm hoping to get a set of twins next summer after I get the head built and trans done (which should be in a couple of days ). Congrats bud. What kind of EGT's are you hitting? Anything is better than what you were doing.

Cool...boost is only 46psi, can't beat that for now

Get the head tied down and then report back Just realized yesterday I'm pushing the S300 on the 95 to 48psi...probably a little too high

The more you drive those twins, the more you'll like them!

Don't get in too much trouble with them Rick,
Chris

sounds like you got your leak issues resolved?!

I'm so glad to hear you like 'em Rick! I liked a lot of aspects about them, but they just weren't for me. I do miss the sound of that S400 spooling up and down though!
