Well can a 24 Valve be converted to mechanical fuel pump like 12 valves?

Another option is a cam and mechanical fuel pump. You would still have the VP44, but no electric lift pump. If cash was no object, I would have done this instead of the FASS.

About $3000-3500 installed. Alot less if you do the work yourself. I'm not that talented of a wrench. LOL

I have heard of guys having them done for less than $5K, but the end result is a poorly driveable truck with a less than professional looking installation.
It cost Jetpilot 11k to get his done, I could buy the best p-pump out there and do the conversion for less than that. Haisley and Schieds sell the kit minus the P-pump for $1500. I got the lines new from Haisley, pump, pump gear, timing case, for about $1200. My engine looks about as close to a professional job as it can. Injectors do NOT have to be changed, it will run and drive just fine with what ever you run, I've run stock, Columbus 7x12, and Buddha 6x18 and all of them idle fine, and start fine, all of those were also run with stock and BIG cut DV's

This has been discussed on anothe forum and the bottom line is that you lose about 100 HP by going to the manual injection pump over the VP44

ronA his truck he built by himself for like 1000 bucks, hes a machininest and his truck is fast as all can be and it runs and starts fine and he runs 240+ don m injectors. so you dont loose you gain reliability and good power withthe exception of a lot of smoke over the 500 hundred horse level. i would do it if it wasnt so time consuming,i have to have my truck im hauling freighgt containers for private owners and would love a mechanical. but my vp hasnt thrown any codes and is runnin strong.

To clarify. My conversion was done by BPine and Hvac. I daily drive with Mach 1.2 injectors at around 525hp level. I run a Helix 2 cam with a stock 12valve lift pump.I dyno'd a while back with a set of Mach 7's(thanks Chris Sutton) and made 678 on number 2. I believe that number is respectable when compared to a vp44. You loose on the daily driver portion by not being able to make large adjustments to fueling at the touch of a button. If my truck was set up for all the electronics to run a vp, i would run one and deal with the occasional electronic parts replacement. My first gen is lacking those electronics so this path was chosen. As a daily driver compared to a vp at the same level, this compares just fine, and has been stone cold reliable. The only codes i get are about once a year when my $3 stick on dash clock shows low bat code.

p-pump 24 valva

its not nearly as bad to p pump a 24 valve as everyone says i know several people who have done it and it is not all that expensive the guys i know have had anywere from $2300.00 if you do it your self and lready have the pump to $6000.00 and this included a full race pump from haisley i also know a guy who took his truck the pump and cover to eep and they chargerd him $3800.00 and it looks stock all the guages work and so does the cruse control granted eep wont do it this cheep for everyone but it is know were as expensive as everyone says it depends on what u want and how much u want to spend as far as the $pecial injectors yes the 12 valve has a lower pop off pressure but the 24 valve will idle and pun fine with the p pump most of the time but in some cases you will need custom injectors

Also look at all the CTD that dont run into problems w /tons of miles. There are a few out there. DTR is very helpful, but can cause undue stress as well.
