Have been researching the same subject. My understanding is running injection system w/ straight water will not increase HP (and therefore not increase boost) but the mix of water & methanol will.
Could not find anyone with the injection system that did run straight water so not sure. Anyone else?

I don't think I've seen a person running 100% water either, I suppose it would lower EGTs but would it lower EGTs more than the amount of air it displaced and by enough to make it worthwhile? Anyway the methanol has a low self igniting point so it starts the flame in the cylinder which makes it bascially like injecting another fuel but in the wrong proportion it can be quite dangerous to your head gasket. What size turbo is your 18cm housing on? Time for twins?

The 18cm is on my stock turbo I cant afford a bigger one right now so twins are deffinatly out and I want to stay in the sreet classes for pulling and drag racing. Im just looking for something to lower egts until this spring when I will get a different turbo.

Talked with Matt Snow. He said his system can be run with straight water...just need to be more careful about not using heavy doses as it can quench ignition.
H20 only will still increase HP a little, as it has on Big Rigs for years, so may still add small amt of boost, while lowering EGT's approx. 200*.

SmokinDodge:

I recently had my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve completely
rebuilt by Scheid Diesel and it now has the performance
upgrades listed in my signature plus more. I also have
a water injection system which injects just straight
distilled water.

The fuel on my P7100 pump is set pretty high and along
with the Scheid Injecors, my truck got pretty hot without
the water. Right now, I am running two (2) 625 ml water
jets from Snow Performance straight into the intake air
horn. I had one in there at first, but that was not enough
to keep the EGT's down in the 1300-1500 range where I
want them under WOT. The two (2) nozzles have cooled
the EGT's by 350 degrees!! I have not tried methanol
as I have been told that in the 12 valve engines with high
mechanical timing it can cause problems. On my truck, the
boost levels are the same whether the water is on or not.
Jim Fulmer has run a methanol/water mixture in his modified
12 valve and I believe he got a good increase on H.P. at
May Madness with that mixture. You may want to P.M. Jim
for more info on that.

Due to my engine still being pretty new, I have not had a
chance to dyno to check H.P. with "water on vs water off"
but as soon as I do, I will give you the results. I feel no
difference "seat of the pants" however, with the water on
under WOT there is definitely a reduction in my tailpipe
smoke!!

Anyway,......I hope this has helped you some.

Good luck.

what about the stage 3 turbo upgrade from http://www.htturbo.com it has a bigger wheel and compressor housing that would still be considered a stock turbo wouldn't it.

Thanks John, I remember talking with you a little at Schieds in the parking lot of the Dury hotel but didnt get to talk for long becuase of the Cops making everyone go inside, you must really be putting out some fuel I would think with that much water it would put the fire out. Thanks Jesse

Yes, I remember talking to you in the parking lot!

Jesse, I really think the Snow Performance Water
Injection System would work very well for what you
are trying to do on your truck for right now. They are
reasonably priced, easy to install and they give good
support from what I have seen. The system will
definitely lower your EGT's!!

Take care.

John P.- Great info! The 625 nozzles are what Matt Snow recommended for straight water and (for anyone else interested) are what comes stock with the Stage II Diesel Kit.
350* is very impressive! May not do as well with a 24v but have bgt a used Stage II System so will find out.
100*-200* would be good...350* and I'd be thrilled.

You can go to the Snow Performance website @

water injection systems.

Thanks for your comments and input! Those 625ml
nozzles seem to be exactly what I needed! With just
the one nozzle installed I was still seeing over a 200
degree drop which in my opinion is darn good.

Good luck with your system.

I've tried the Snow injection system with straight water. Even only 1 625 nozzle at 200 psi would inject too much water at the 425 hp level. Regular winshield washer fliud works much better.
