Water Cooled HX40

I have a water cooled HX40 and was wanting to see if someone had hooked one up before. Pics of finished install would be very helpful. TIA

That sounds interesting but wouldn't that overheat your engine?

its to keep the center section cooler for longer bushing life and not burning the oil. You can tie it in off of your heater lines on the return side ( the one closest to the turbo).

Im getting some flanges made by a local machine shop pretty cheap and going
to neck down a piece of 3x2 i.d rectangular tubing to connect the two flanges.

And i was thinking about bringing the water out from the plug between cylinder
number 3 and 4 on top of the head. Then returning it to the heater return line.

Is yours a 17 cm housing?

I would use the exit off your tranny heat exchanger. There is valve that limits hot coolant from going into your heater so you can have air conditioning. With the valve closed, your not going to get any coolant flow. I remember seeing a kit that Cummins sells there generator or heavy trucks that ties into the back of head and help move coolant from the back #6 cylinder. Thats the best fix for the engine and turbo, you might have to do a search on the site to find it. Whats the part number off your turbo? Is the coolant going into the bearing housing or goes into the exhaust housing?

Thought the water cooled turbo was for marine application....at least they have been from the marine engines I've built. Will they work on a ctd? If so, thanks for the info!

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines use the cooled turbo, too.

Yep.....the B gas and B gas + use watercooled 35's and the C gas and the C gas + use watercooled 40's. These turbos are very expensive to buy 3000-5000 range and can only be bought new.
