wastegate psi=cooler egts??
ive had my wastgate fully blocked off for over a year since i got the comp,i can peg my 40 psi gauge with the smarty on,just for fun i hoocked up the wastgate and she opens at 22psi,is that where a stock hx35 should open?also it seems my egts are not as high,is it my imagination?does running the hx35 above 30psi take it out of its range and its just getting hot?

The HX35W-12 is generally considered to be out of its acceptable efficiency range at anything over 34 PSIG. Above that, the compressor discharge temperature goes up much faster than the discharge pressure. So, yes, at 40 PSIG you're making more heat than boost.

Yes....40 psi is to hot for an HX-35. If you get a MBC or an adjustable boost elbow, you can control it at around 32-35 psi, which is upper limit of efficiency for that turbo.
Above that, your getting high temp pressure instead of compression pressure.

Not to hijack the thread here, but I just put guages on the truck in my sig, and I only build about 17Lbs of boost max. Is that about right for a relatively stock truck? And what real world benefit is there to making more boost if any? I hear people talking about adjustable wastegates and boost elbows and all, what does making more boost at any given RPM really do? I truly don't know otherwise I wouldn't be asking.
