Which waste gate actuator to use

Running a stock 98.5 235 ISB.
The waste gate actuator has a bad diaphragm.
While I'm waiting for the price quote from Cummins, I thought I'd ask you guys about aftermarket actuators.
How do they compare in price to the stock stuff?
Is the Banks Big can a good investment?
Who else makes actuators?
Eventually this engine willl get some mild mods / bombing so it's probably not a bad idea to start with what needs replacing.

Thumbs down Say no to BANK$

Dont bother with the bank$ big head... my brother talked me into putting one on my old truck and it was a wa$te of money... a stock actuator w/ boost elbow is adequate. I have an extra stock actuator if you are in a jam.

Did you consider the Turbo master? I use them on a few trucks and they seem to work great for me.

Why yes, yes I am in a jam.
I'm stuck in western NY with enough money for fuel to wisconsin and a cummins dealer that wants an arm and a leg and ten days to get me the part.
You can email me at stevie_g@swampfoxcustoms.com or PM me here.
I'd love to work something out with you.

THANKS!!

Why don't you like the Banks Big Head - just wondering. My rig has one (came on it when I bought the truck,) gives me up to 35 pounds boast.

Thanks -

Is the engine in a bus or a Ram? Either way if it is bone stock and your not loaded heavy just drive it home. What can it hurt guys run around here with wastegated blocked off or wired shut with bigger injectors and fueling boxes. I wouldn't even think twice about it especially if I had a pyro. If your getting more boost than the ecm wants it will defuel the engine I don't think you would hurt a thing. I sometimes wonder if the wastegate actully opens on a stock truck.

When I installed mine it did nothin, I saw no increase in boost and i paid 150 for a shiny wastegate that said "banks big head" on it.
I have a stock actuator and manual boost controller and i can get 38# of boost.

sometimes the Banks wastegates need a little tweaking to get them right, but I've had good luck with them , had to adjust a couple of them to get them to hold a little more boost, but afterwards they worked great, dunno how much "better" than a boost elbow they are, but I had good luck with mine, Dusty

I have a banks 14cm wastegated housing and a edge boost elbow. I took the flow through one off when I installed the edge kit. Whould it be benificial to stay with the stock boost elbow? Or would I see to much boost? Right now I can get up to 38 pounds.

Because for about $30 you can get a nice spring type MBC off ebay that will do the same thing, and is very easy to adjust.

How much is the Bank$ big head?

Understand - Like I said, mine came with the truck. I was just wondering if it had some problem I needed to know about ....
I wouldn't buy another one current price is $180 IIRC
