When I did my GSK I had to readjust the locknuts because they were too loose. The truck wouldnt even start at first but I eventualy got it right. Either that or turn up your idle. I didnt have to do that nor have I ever so I cant help with that portion, but you can search it.

Well, like I said, the springs were too loose in the pump so I had to tighten them a little at a time until I got the truck to idle properly. It was time consuming but I got it right and it runs great. You dont need to drive the truck to set the springs, it should idle at about 700-750 in park with the AC on if I remember correctly.

Actually it should idle at 750 or so in gear with the a/c on, generally ends up around 900-1000 in park.

Using the idle screw to adjust the idle for a misadjusted governor is not always the best thing to do.

I agree, I would just try to get the GSK correct before adjusting the idle.

Springs are too tight. I did the same thing. Backed em off to .040" if I rememeber right. Some one should know for sure what to set them at.

I think the setting is different once you change the springs. I used precise calibrated measuring tools and set my 3k springs back exactly as my stock springs came out and it would not start. The stock setting may be a good place to start, but I had to tighten mine down past that point to get it right.
