Wanted: Feedback on Maguires 3 Step Wax

Looking for Industry Knowledgeable feedback!
I know many members have their favorite waxes... but I'm looking for info on the quality of Maguires!
Specifically - their 3 stage (3 different bottles) exterior treatment;
1-Cleaner/Scratch Filler
2-Wet look and wax base
3-Canuba Wax

I used it a yr ago and have been happy with look & how long it seems to have lasted. It's time consuming to do three coats but all three are easy on/easy off.

But is it special/better or is it just 3 coats that makes it better than one coat of turtle wax, etc?

Anyone know the industry well enough to evaluate Maguires against the others?

I've used the Mother's 3 stage on my bike. Cleaner, sealer & glaze, wax of your choice. It sure does hold a shine. From what I've read this will go a long ways on restoring an older paint. Mothers seems to be pretty good stuff, I've got some of their aluminuim polish too =P

I am no "pro" judge, however I do like that system. The cleaner really removes the grit and hard finish, wear, chalking of the surface. The polish is good to as I found it removed some of the light scratches and swirls.

I found the Turtle stuff or other finishs don't last as long or have the finished look of the Mequires.

I have used it for years on both of my vehicles and had good luck.

I haven't used that particular product, but I have used their stuff in the past. They use to make a wax called 'Tuff Truck Wax', and that stuff was nothing short of awesome. It went on easy, and after a month of that truck being in the mud 4 nights a week minimum, it would still bead water.

They stopped making it, but I still use their products because of that wax.

Can someone break down how to apply the wax and other things?

I have never waxed my truck, but would like to. I tried once with some, but don't think I was applying it correctly. How do you remove it? How do you get the white matter out of the little crevaces and what nots? How do you get the shine, do you have to use a buffer? I mean I have no experience with it, but would love to get some..

Thanks for the help in advance..

Maybe they changed it, but the last time I used the Meguiar's 3-stage system (3 years ago on a red Volvo 850GLT), the carnauba wax (step 3) was an absolute pain in the posterior to buff off. The final results, however, were fine.

Must be different now, Rusty!
All three stages come off easily. The wax stage comes off so easily you might thing it's not leaving much, but when taking it off (no buffer needed), you can't miss how slippery it gets.

HappyGA - It's three different bottles... marked #1, #2, #3. All you need is a clean truck to start, and LOTS of terry cloth towels. (I find washing the towels immediately after using gets them totally clean).
How hard it is to get all the stuff out of the grooves, depends on how sloppy you are when you apply it. Not the problem, IMO, that other waxes can be.
Application is easy... just wax on... wax off
I do 8 different section (each completely before moving on)... one at a time - tailgate, rear quarter panels, doors, front quarter panels, hood. Follow directions on the bottles... a ten yr old could do it!

Yep, they've changed it. The stage 3 carnauba wax I used was a paste.

Maguires products are all first rate and probably the #1 used product at the car show events. I use their cleaners/polishes by machine and waxes by hand. Used to use 3Ms products but found the Maguires products a little more user friendly. IMO they are better and are worth the time and money. If you need a little more agressive swirl remover or your paint is faded more than normal another product they sell for HAND use is their Clay Bar and it works great also

I've never used the three step, but I have done my own three step approach. Dawn soap to strip everything off, clay bar to remove imperfections and make the paint real smooth, meguiars tech wax to bring out the shine. Makes the paint silky smooth and even while driving in a rain storm the paint stays nice and dry. The water can't even stick. It's great.

On second thought here, there's this one product out there called Zaino you could use. It's an absolute pain in the **** to use because there are so many steps involved but man oh man does it leave a shine. It brings out a depth and gloss that you've never seen before. You better make sure that your wallet is really deep also.

I use the 3-step sometimes, it does do wonders on swirled paint and the shine is amazing. When my truck gets really nasty crap and over spray on it, i skip the three step and go straight to a clay bar and alot of elbow grease. I get really picky on how my truck looks, i wash and wax it once a week during the warmer months.
