Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I looked at them a while back, but while they have nice CCA's, they do not have enough reserve capacity, less than stock.
Take note of that before you buy.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I'd be careful of any universal fit battery. Our bat cables are pretty stout and don't like any attempt to reroute. To tell ya the truth I haven't looked at teh Dodge too much in this respect, but my Ford absolutly would not accept anything but 24 on one side and 24F on the other.

I wouldn't think reserve capacity for just just starting and running the truck would mean much. For RV type use reserve is king, but the truck battery isn't usually asked to do this job.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

Some of the folks I've spoken to suggest the Optima Yellow top for diesel engines due to the preheat for cold starts. I'm currently trying to look deeper into this since I'll likely have to cycle twice for some of our winter temps up here.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I used an optima in my jeep and had good results, the cranking power was great when I stalled going up a steep hill and I had to start in gear. My uncle put and optima in his viper when he bought it in 1995. It still has the same battery and has never let him down even though it will sometimes go a couple months witout being driven enough to charge.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

Hey if you don't need or want them not a biggy, but don't scare others way. I have run red tops for about 3 years, they are great for or truck. I also have them in my ford and in the trailer, no problems. There is no cable problem, they fit right in and look terrific. The yellow tops are nice for people that do alot of winching, or have huge stereos. The blue tops are not for trucks, they are the deep cycle marine batteries. There is a new yellow top out, it's called the group 31, and is a larger battery, this might be an option for those with small battery invee. if you are interested , just call or go on line.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I'm not here to scare, but to inform. I posted this question a while back in a battery discussion and the replies I got back were those of people concerned about the reserve capacity being lower than stock. I don't even know why it matters, especially if you are just starting the truck, but others more learned than I showed concern, so I was just passing it on.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I talked my Dad into buying an Optima red top for the starter battery on his bass boat. He bought it, we went out fishing a few times, then the boat sat for 3 months. When we went out next, the Optima was dead WITH the battery power switch to off. The deep cycles he had did not lose a charge.
Just some info for you guys. I like the Optima myself, but maybe more suited for jeep guys.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I have been running my '99 on one red top for well over a year. Ok not so cold here but no trouble starting down to 10 or so. I can't see how you could have problems if you ran two of them. I have also forgot to shut off the refridgerator a couple of times and ran it stone flat. Still works well after a charge.

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I've gotta say that I have never had a problem with my Optima batteries. I had a pair of Red tops in my Jeep and a Blue top in my Boat.......never had a problem starting it after sitting for the winter. I also have a Blue Top deep cycle in my camper and have had nothing but good results. They are awesome batteries and when my batteries wear out in my RAM, it's gonna be Optimas as replacements!

Re:WANT A OPTIMA BATTERY CHEAP?

I am using a single red top in my truck. I know of lower reserve capacity, but the high CCA does the trick for me. In my truck everything that needs juice and can be left on with the key out makes noise. Even I do rarely forget to turn off the light. I do like the optima because it's less prone to spillage.

Would this offer include shipping to me too ???
