Here are some side pics. The snow kinda messes things up but you can still see how the front tires(235's) are taller than the rear stock 215's. If you want some other pics let me know...I like taking pictures anyways

thanks for the pictures dinner. I can tell the front tire is meatier but I don't think it's meaty enough for me.

I guess I need some wheel spacers $$$$$$ bling or fab some up (more likely)

I hope you guys are still on here b/c I have a ? for ya.
I have a 96 dodge 3500 that I want to run 285/75/16's on BAD. what size spacer do I have to run and will there be any negative effects from them?

I've run spacers before but never with something that'll have a gvwr of 15k pounds. company recommendations welcome.. ebay? rickson? make my own from steel stock? thanks

I found a set of 1/2" spacers on ebay for a good price. will the 285/75/16's rub?
hope not b/c I'm about ready to buy them and then run whatever spacer I need.

anybody know for sure what size spacer is required for no rubbing with 285's???

I am told it's 1/2" or 9/16"s .... help?

can anybody who has 255/85/16's on a 2nd. gen 3500 post up some side and rear view pictures please?

I want to see if I will be happy with them or if I need to start setting up for aluminum 19.5's etc... thank you.

also- anyone who is running a 285/75/16... those same pictures would be nice. what size spacers are you running also please.

I have 255/85s on the rear of mine, pics are on here somewhere already. I just recently switched to 285/75 on the front, looks better, doesn't sink as far in mud, and cheaper too.
Before I installed the 285s, I put them both on one side in the back, with no load(and no spacer) they do not touch. I do not know the difference in wheels from year to year, mine is a 2000.

thanks for the pics man.. yours is a 4wd right (looks like it)

the newer model dually's like yours have an 8" wide rim as opposed to my 6" wide rims.

I am thinking 19.5's more and more lately.

ok i have a 98 dualy 4x4 and i recently put on a set of 285\75\16 all u need is a half inch spacer for youre rear duals and i have no rubbing in the front my tires are cooper sst and they have some extra meat on the sidewalls and once u get over a 285 the side walls and the rest of the tire are bilt stronger and a lot of the time a class c or d in a 285 will have a higher weight raiting than a class e

thanks farmerlee, have you had any significant weight behind your rig with those tires? like more than 7,000 lbs.

I would like to know more about the 19.5 swap... guess I have a lot of reading to do as I'm sure there are 40000000 posts about it.

From what I've seen a 19.5 conversion isn't really going to get you a taller tire than the 255/85's you mentioned. There's a huge price buying 6-7 wheels/tires.

Just go with some 255/85/16's. I've run two different brands in a 235/85 and each brand have their own fit. My toyo m55's are almost 1 inch taller and 1/2" wider than the radial sxt's I have. The 255/85 in a m55 will rub in the rear without a spacer but a mud terrain sxt in a 255/85 are still tall but they aren't very wide. All of them are 10 ply's. I'm looking into a 255/85 in a Maxxis bighorn. The 255's are only $40 difference total(6 tires) vs the 235's. $1100 and $1140

I am NOW thinking about getting a set of 16" alcoa's (like the mickey thompson classic II's) and a set of 255/85/16 mastercraft courser at2's.

I can get the tires for $800... now where to get wheels?

ok- I've spent months learning about tires and what rubs. I have put a set of mastercraft courser at/2 tires on the rig. 285-75-16 D range. the fronts look great but the rear tires are "LOCKED" together.... I am told a 2" studded spacer will fix this but the tires will stick out of the fender by 1.25". this is OK with me for the added MEAT on the dually. 265-75-16s shouldn't stick out of the fenders when coupled with their appropriate spacer and would be the body friendly way to go. there it is.... and here it is...
