I just recently ordered in some new front tires for my 99 3500. From reading and remember, a lot of guys run 235/85/16's with stock rims, front and rear on their dually trucks. Now this is with stock suspension, no spacers, etc. I'm hoping to get my tires in tomorrow and have them mounted. If I do I will post up some pictures so at least you can see what they look like on the front (if you havn't already ordered tires, lol) Oh, and I am getting Cooper Discoverer ATR's

thanks dinner. I am really looking forward to those pics. please post em up.

all you srw guys... thanks for the input but the issue isn't with front fenderwell clearance or rim size.. it's sidewall scrub in the rear. I appreciate the attempt though

I'll order my tires as soon as I quit buying parts for the rock buggy. I've spent $5,000 in the last 3 days and I'm nowhere NEAR done.

I have 235/85/16's on my dually and they look small to me. Theres barely any gap when u have a load of soil in the bed, so there about as big as u can go without tire rub while towing, before u have to run spacers.

I'd say get some 255/85/16's with about a 1" spacer in the rear.

Well so far the guys hasn't called back about my tires being in I'm going to call him/visit him tomorrow and see if they are in. Once that happens then I can get some pics. I just want to be able to turn in this winter weather

Quick question if you don't mind me asking in your topic mr_diy.

How much wider are the 235/85's than the 215/85's, if any?

Come on guys thats easy. The first number is the tire width in millimeters. So a 235 is 20mm, or 2 cm wider than a 215.

Tire width/aspect ratio (higher the # the taller the tire), R for radial, tire size, weight, speed,..

Thats why a 265/70 is shorter than a 235/85. A 235/85 and the 275/75 are almost a match in height/revs.

lol Yea I know what the numbers mean. I was just curious as to if they are a noticeable amount wider, or not really, lol.

mr_diy, got the call today and my tires are in. I will have the pics posted for you tonight when I am home from my shift

rock on man.

I am thinking about machining a spacer (1/2" or so) from steel and running a little bigger tire (265/75/16 or so)

opinions?

steel should be better than aluminum (which alot of spacers now are), so i say go for it.

I will get one this morning for you when I wake up and it's daylight out. You can tell they are taller and wider if you sit there and look from front to rear.

The weather hasn't been to bad the last few nights. On the weekend it was -25 celsius, and most of this week the nights drop to around -20, then plus wind chill.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:41 AM.
