Walbro lift pump for VP-44?

I've been reading all the threads about the Walbro lift pump replacement for the 3rd Gen trucks with the CP-3 injection pump.

Would the Walbro lift pump work on a VP-44 truck?
Too much pressure? Can you bypass it somehow?

The Walbro seems like a better running alternative than most aftermarket pumps, and at less than half the price of a Fass, which is subject to brush and bypass spring failure...

Anyone running a Walbro on a VP-44??

See my post in General Diesel.

I put it there so that everyone, stock or modded would see it.

Enjoy !

Superduty, I've read your post there.
However, it doesn't say if the Walbro, which puts out 60 psi, will work on the VP-44 injection pump which needs to see ~15 psi maximum.

So, how would the Walbro be set up to run a VP-44 equiped Cummins?

VP44 application needs a regulator if I understand correctly.

I think I would plumb it like the CP3, ie with a bypass and put the regulator in the bypass line. Set the regulator to the pressure you want and it will stay there, idle or WOT.
