Walbro GSL-392

looking at a new lift pump...find this Walbro from Glacier diesel power, great price...but they said: "CAUTION! These pumps must be used in conjunction with a bypass regulation system when installed on the Dodge Rams. Failure to do so will cause fuel system damage due to excessive fuel pressure"
What's this mean??
the walbro is a good pump? I need to replace the old LP or I add this new and leave the OE?

walbro pump is cabable of 120 psi get a bypass and set it at a psi and when the valve hits that psi it will return the extra psi to the tank via the return line. so if you want 12 psi of fuel pressure the pump is only running at 10% duty cycle so it lasts longer.

the regulator is the by pass mentioned on GDP site? the walbro 392 kit costs 419$ - the 392 pump only costs 119$ why this big difference? the kit include bypass return line to tank fittings hose brakets...
the BD diesel kit costs around 200$ I think 400bucks are too much, for 500 I can get an AIRDOG sys..

A lot of people use a Swagelok bypass valve with good success. Do a search on Swagelok and you will get part numbers. I think 1/2" is the preferred size because 3/8" was a bit too restrictive under WOT conditions and caused pressure drops.

There's actually only a 1/4" and 1/2" Swagelok size. I think the one that Paul and I use is the B-8CPA2-3. It's about $38. It is adjusted internally with an allen wrench so it may take a few tries to get it to the right psi. I set mine at 23psi before the fuel filter so my VP44 gets 20psi at idle and no lower than 14psi WOT. All of the rest of the fittings are from Home Depot. I got 25' of Goodyear 3/8" fuel line from SummitRacing.com for pretty cheap. The pre-LP fuel filter I use is a Fleetguard FF-5079 for $8 from a Cummins shop. All told, the parts, minus the Walbro, come to about $100. I've had mine on about 3 weeks and love it. Much better than the Carter LP I had on the frame rail....
