Walbro fuel pump

I just ordered me a walbro pump and inline strainer. I allready have bigger fuel lines and power back at the tank so i didnt order the kit, just a pump. My question is about a regulator. I did a search seen some ppl have one others dont. For us second gens do i need a regulator? How do yo ajust the pressure on these pumps? I see its done with some kinda washers it seems. Any help will be appreciated im tryin to get back on the road asap.

There is no way to adjust the pressure on a Walbro. I run a bypass setup on my 3rd gen CP3 and this keeps the pressure at about 18-20psi going thru 3 fuel filters. I don't know how your injection pump works, but if it has a return, you could run a bypass and get the pressures down. Pics of my setup are on a different site... can't get them to fit here...

What size is your bypass line? I Would think the bypass line should be smaller than my regular line right. Im thinking a 1/4 inch line and ill runn it back to the filler hose.

My bypass is 5/16"... I tried 1/4" and 3/8" initially. 1/4 and my pressure was above 30psi (too much). 3/8 and it was below 12psi. Yours will vary due to differences obviously. The washers you mentioned are used with his specific bypass unit. I installed my Walbro setup long before anything was on the market. I was one of the pioneer's, so to speak...

I put a hose clamp on the 3/8's return line to regulate pressure. I couldn't get it right using smaller tube. This isn't the best way but it works. One of these day's I'll put a regulator on it but for now it works fine. I'm getting 20 idle 10 WOT.

You tee off before the IP and run the bypass to the stock return line. Your pressure will be between 11 and 17psi. I used 5/16 bypass. The stock return line is 1/4" which gives enough restriction to keep the pressure up at the IP.
If you want to install a regulator contact Richard at Glacier Diesel, I'm sure he would sell you one.

I'd say yes. You might have a little more flucuation(sp) in pressure but as long as you dont draw lower than 4-5 psi. on WOT you should be fine.
Adjust your needle valve to about 17psi. on idle and let us Know what your WOT psi is. Just curious.
