Walbro

Walbro
The 4601hp pump that I have mounted by the tank does not seem to last very long and my second one is slowly losing pressure. I am seriously considering a Walbro 392. SuperDuty initiated a lot of discussion on it but unfortunately he does not post here any more. The last info I had on it was that the 1/4" regulator could not handle the flow. The topic seems to have died a slow death after that. Has someone actually implemented a Walbro on a 2nd gen. truck and been happy with the results?

The last I heard they were running the Walbro with no regulator, and a bypass line. They were relying on the friction of the 1/4" return line as the "regulator". They were only getting the stock LP pressures 17 PSI idle, 10 PSI WOT, but the volume was suppose to be greater.

FASS is coming out with a new line of pumps in a week. You might want to check them out first.

We`re still trying to get the Walbro setup perfected. It is working good, just trying the pressure regulation consistant. That seems to be the only problem we`re having right now.
Hey Geico, you never answered my question about why you think the Walbro is only a good "replacement" pump ? Care to elaborate ?

According to Superduty, on a second gen, if you run the pump without a regulator and add a 1/4-5/16" bypass, from the inlet at the VP to the return line, you'll get 17 PSI @ idle and between 10-13 PSI @ WOT (depending on mods). That is giving a flow of 70 GPH @ the VP ... SWEET!
