That kind of blows his $1K in just one wad, actually exceeds it.

Being on a budget and wanting to buy upgrades is hard. Maybe I will just stash the 1K until I can save more to do everything at one time. Probably my best bet instead of buying one piece of the puzzle at a time.

So I shopped around for TC's and found them to be pricy but probably good product for the price. I did see some converters advertised on ebay but not with any brand names I recognize from this site so they probably arent tested proven by REAL Cummins owners. Does Goerends have a website?

So my wife decides she is going to give me 2K instead of 1K so that makes things a little easier. Deffinately a good TC, VB, 3Kgsk, 370 injectors and some DV's but what size? 181 or 191? Still running stock turbo so what can I get away with?

180 and 215 pumps already have the 181 DV. I have a set of 191DV waiting to go in (need a socket), so I can't saw what increase there will be. If the pump is otherwise setup properly, the 181 DV will flow enough fuel for 800hp.
The stock turbo won't take the #100 and the 370s together. WAY too much heat. I'm hitting 37#/1300* (preturbo) with my setup. Don't know if a 16cm2 housing will be enough on an otherwise stock turbo.

If my engine had the timing advanced, the EGTs would be cooler. It works quite well.
I think a HTB2 would be even better. Better spool up off the line. I can spool the 40 pretty well. Once the fuel comes on, it lights pretty dang quick. If the plate is slid back though, it isn't as easy to light.
Have the plate full forward now. Really takes off now.

Give Dave a call about the transmission first. He'll be honest with you and help you get set up right the FIRST time. I would definitely go with the triple disk, and ask Dave about a valve body. Then I would get the 3k GSK, that's the best bang for the buck. Then I would save up and get the 370s and hybridize your turbo with HT Turbo. This is the plan I am trying to head down, but I'm also on a budget (gonna start 1st year of college next fall). I'm trying to build it the smart way, because I won't be able to afford any unexpected breakdowns! If you do the injectors and DVs first, you'll be buying a torque converter right away anyway because it's gonna slip big time! But, that's just my 2 cents...
