Yeah Ill let you know how it goes, If its not putting out the PSI that I want it to I may look into the regularot. It says its at full flow from the factory but If im only seeing 14-15 psi after the relay install I dont know what to do??

I wired up that 30 amp relay (instructions called for 15A) but didnt hardly increase any psi. Ive got to do some research and check teh regulator and see what happens. I was really hoping for 16-17 psi at idle and 13-14 at WOT but well see what happens.

Ok. I just upboxed my new Big Line Kit and Relocater thing. There is no 3/8 fuel line in here like the instructions state to connect the factory hard line to the lift pump in its new position. Has anyone else been missing the 3/8 hose? I have a message in to Vulcan, we'll see what they say.

It is hard to find good help, isn't it?

Which fuel line does it say it connects to, or replaces? How long is it?

It tells me to cut the old hard line about 18 or 20 inches from the tank and put this short piece of 3/8 over it with a clamp and that connects to the lift pump in its new location. ???? I'm still using the factory draw straw and junk.

There is short 3/8 fuel line, a long 1/2 fuel line, and a short 1/2 fuel line. I am sure Eric @ Vulcan will fix you up right away.

BTW, I see 15 PSI idle, 13 PSI crusing, and 11 WOT. When I had on a napa carter lift pump, WOT was 12 PSI. That lift pump failed a little bit ago and I am using the "old" lift pump Dodge replaced a long time ago. I swaped it with the napa pump when my vp-44 was replaced by dodge.

HTHs,

Joe

Ok. This is what you need the tube cutter for. You cut the hard line coming from the tank. You put the 3/8" line with clamp OVER the hard line. Then this 3/8" line connects to the lift pump just in front of the tank. Look at my gallery for a pic. I installed a valve, so disregard the valve. The lift pump will be closer to the tank than mine is.

Marine,
I did mine recently, and it's plumbed just as your is. I did add a shield over it.

I found the black PVC "nozzle" off of a 15# fire ext. I cut off the 4"-5" where the hose attaches and it leaves a 1"dia. drain hole. Then I notched the sides for the hoses coming in and going out. Then notched that back side to clear the "L" bracket. Then bent to top piece over and match drilled two holes to line up with the mounting bolts. Inserted the top over the bolts and used wing-nuts to hold it on, so I could removed them easier when I need to!

Eric got back with me and said they forgot to send it. The 3/8 line is on the way. Opps! The valve thing seems like a good idea to cut fuel when replacing a pump, but I don't plan on doing that very often, so I think I'll just not put one in.

It's also good for changing filters. Even if you change the pump once, it is worth the valve.

Marine,
Hey, first off, thanks for your service. We all tend to take things for granted until it becomes personal. Be safe, and God bless you and your family!

I can take a picture of my shield, but I do not know how to post it for you to see. Can it just email it to you?

I really like the simplicity of the rail mounted pump and valve. I don't have to be concerned about the fuel level to keep from spilling fuel while changing and it would take as long to find the wrenches as it would to replace the pump.

If you go into your gallery, you can see an upload link. Just follow the directions.
Thank you for the appreciation!
The valve is the way to go. It is a 1/4 turn ball valve that is diesel compatible.

Done!

Ok, fellas and chicks, here some REAL numbers from the install. Total time, about 2 hours. (everything is long the first time, right). Now then,

Pre-installation #s:
Idle 13-14
70 mph 11-12
WOT on 5-5 3-4 (with attitude going Woop Woop Woop!!!)

Post-installation #s:
Idle 16
70-85 mph 14-15
WOT and 100 mph on 5-5 10-11

And another thing, I tried those high flow injector tubes a while back and it ruined the idle so I jerked them out. I put them back in last night and it runs real good. So I'm going to try them out again for a week and see if I like them now.

Life is good.......and my VP44 better be happy for many years to come! I'm glad I put this kit on before
