Vulcan Big Line Installation

Hey Guys,

My big line kit is in the mail, and my new carter is sitting on the bench. I'm wondering, after I get everything put in,......whats the best way to prime the lines? I'm guessing I'll need to crack a couple of injectors? I've never done this......can I loosen the lines behind the VP,....or do I need to crack them right at the block?

Or do you think I'll be able to simply bump the carter multiple times, watch my FP gauge, and start cranking when I get upwards of 10-12 psi on my gauge ?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Regards.

I have never had to crack a line ... just bumped the starter 3-4 times and she started right up! I've had to crank for 5-10 seconds a couple of times, but that's it!

Good luck, you'll like the kit, piece of cake to install.

Bled mine twice by bumping the key, never cracked any lines loose either

What is a vulcan Big line kit. I wonder if it is anything like what I am currently using with hose barbs & 1/2 inch fuel line. Are you getting the Carter 4601 Hp pump? I have had real good luck with mine for well over a 100k miles.

Bighead:

Your correct, the vulcan big line kit replaces the existing lines with 1/2", and eliminates the banjo bolts.

The carter pump I have coming is part number: P74213. Not sure if this is the same pump your running or not.....I got mine from NAPA.

Sounds like you must be setup pretty good if your getting 100k out of your LP. (Either that or real lucky!)

Is your carter mounted in the stock location? (on the block?)

I'm hoping for the best.......this is getting expensive!

Question

Is this a fairly low cost system with the Carter pump, lets say compaired to Fass etc.
