VP44 replacement
Hello Everyone,
You hear about how unreliable the VP 44 injection pump has been. I was wondering if anyone ever tried to replace the VP44 pump with the older P7100?

It has been done, but is a lot of work, requiring a custom camshaft and other parts. The VP-44 is fly-by-wire, so the accelerator pedal will need a cable and fuel shut off solenoid too, I believe. Not necessarily an unwise swap, but not cheap or easy, either.

Do a search....i have see them in person....a guy on here has one running as his daily driver....uh....travjrath is his user name. AND i dont think he changed his cam. Just the fnt cover to a 12 valve, injector lines, and fabbed up a place for the throttle cable. Seemed to work pretty good. BUT he did say that is had its draw backs somewhat....you loose the instance timing advance that the VP44 gives ya from what i hear. You just have to put up with the MIL on all the time...or might be a way to stop that......I figure ill put up with the VP44....i got a fresh one and did a FASS so that should help with the life of the pump.
