Vp44 on its way out?

My dad had his Vp44 pump replaced at the dealer about 50,000 miles ago, he has approx 99000 miles on his truck now. Is the reason that his 2nd Vp44 pump has died because his truck has a weak lift pump, should he have the dealer check the lift pump and replace that to? He and I are both going to buy Fp gauges, what brand do you guys recommed? Thanks for the help

I believe the dealers should be doing a flow test on the lift pumps now. The FP gauge will give you a good indication if you watch it at WOT. It should read >8psi at WOT.

brandon.

A couple of months ago I had to tow my buddies 2000 to the dealer with a dead VP, well after it was done and over with he had 13 days of warranty left, so that was covered, but they did not replace the lift pump, said the fuel flow was good, I put on a new LP in my gf's 2000, and it runs 14 idle but when I wind it up it'll pull down to 6, i called a friend at the dealer and he said that was fine, and that was in factory spec. Just a little info.....

factory specs are on the fringe. ANY performance mods and you should stay above 5 at WOT. opinions vary DRAMATICALLY on this subject, but positive pressure at WOT is (i think) universally accepted as necessary!

I have a fp warning light. It works great and it comes on at 8 psi I believe. It was a snap to install and the best part is, you don't to keep an eye on it as would a gauge. Go to bigdaddyz.com. The kits runs about $70 including shipping.

A minimum of 45 oz's of fuel for the 25 seconds of the start bump.

You should get more than this...
