VP44 cooling system for the Texas heat.

VP44 cooling system for the Texas heat.
2000 Ram 2500 24 valve motor.
Prior to vp44 custom cooling system install the vp44 would be so hot during the summer temps, which would easily exceed 107 degrees , that you would literally burn your hand if you touched it.
After extensive reading my conclusion is that the heat related failure of the vp44 are most likely the top of the pump which houses a circuitboard with computer chips.
To further back my conclusion Various other diesel performance companies infact sell a aftermarket cooling block that has fins and mounts to the top of the vp44 to help disapate heat.
The vp44 cooling system I put together can be completed for about 80 dollars.
3 inch turbo exhaust fan, 12volt and draws about 10amps to be mounted in the driver front fender well area.
Attached to the turbo fan is 3 inch flexible aluminum tubing that runs up to the vp44.
zip ties to hold the tubing in place.
Turbo fan is wired to a 30 amp relay that is only turned on when ignition is in the run position.
can be disabled in winter by simply unplugging the relay from the power.
With the turbo fan mounted in front of the driver front tire the air is coolest and takes that cool air and blows it directly onto the top and partially the entire vp44.
Now with this set up you can put your finger on top of the pump after driving in over 100 degree weather and the vp44 is always cool to the touch.
Just wanted to pass this along.
Below are a couple of photos of the simple set up.
