Vp 44 code tester?
I just had a quick question. Is there a special tool to read the codes on our VP44's or do you just do it with a normal code reader that plugs in under the dash? thanks in advance mario

Ok thanks i went to autozone to see if i have any codes because i have been getting bad fuel mileage about 12mpg. I have no check engine light, but i thought i would check.came out clear. If the vp44 does have a code will the check engine light come on? aslo i just replaced a lift pump.thanks mario

Stroker, my VP actually quit and it did set a code of 1688 and PO252. Which both point to the electronics attached to the pump. I had no warning before if quit on the interstate a long way from home. I have heard of others going to a limp mode and bearly running but not sure if that sets a code or not.

The check engine light will not always come on when your truck sets a code. Look here for a description on some of the more common OBDII codes. AutoZone should have a scan tool that will be able to read your codes for you.
Poor fuel economy could be a few things. Get the codes scanned and let us know what, if any you find.
