when you put an edge comp box on those trucks and tap the wire is it just from a lack of fuel that burns those pumps up or is it something else

One thing in that combination that Gecko mentioned that makes the problem worse (IMO) with a wire tap is that you are pushing the pump beyond it's design parameters. Also those with wire tap boxes seem to be mostly those that are pushing their trucks. Not that there is anything wrong with that
